I did end up miscarrying at 6+1 last week. However, when they did an ultrasound at 6 weeks, there was a heartbeat. Another blood draw saw my hcg only inch up. A 7 week ultrasound showed a 7 week fetus, strong heartbeat, but an extremely small sac...the baby took up almost the whole thing. I think the sac measured around 5w3d. The radiologist and my doc thought the slowly rising hcg plus the discrepancy of sac size were suggestive of an incompatible pregnancy and most likely a severe chromosomal disorder. We talked about all of my options (testing, possible termination, etc) should the fetus survive the first trimester. We didn't get that far, so no tough decisions had to be made. Surpringly they were able to see a small gestational sac in my uterus.
