@wonderstruck: @swurlygurl: That's the tricky part, I started just barely overweight and losing 13 pounds put me easily at my happy weight (1 pound more than when I graduated high school). Since technically I was overweight to start which counts? I feel like looking at those charts online 4 pounds up from my lowest point at 20 weeks is still below where someone who started overweight should be.

I see my midwife again on Friday so I will obviously chat with her about it then, last time I saw the one person in the practice I can't stand so I think mostly I am feeling like I was left in the dark about what I should be doing.

@wonderstruck: Has your doctor talked to you about how much they want you to eat or upping your medication until you are eating normally? I am definitely on the low end of the medication spectrum for HG and I take enough so that I can eat some and not throw up much if at all, but I eat very little, like it's 2:00 and I have had maybe 450-500 calories today with no plans to eat anytime soon...

My dr never said a word about weight. I lost ~7 in the first 20 weeks then ended up about 15 from my prepregnancy weight at the end.

Agree with all that it totally depends on where you started. I was the same as @weagle and they were more concerned with fundal height than weight. If your fundal height is off, they will do extra ultrasounds to make sure things are okay.

I started both of my pregnancies overweight (186) though I look much smaller. I only gained 14 pounds with my daughter, and a couple weeks after she was born I was 10 pounds less than when I started. This time around I'm at 13 weeks and down 9 pounds.

I think technically I'm only supposed to gain between 11-20 pounds, so I wouldn't be too worried about it as long as baby is growing well.

Did you start at a normal weight? I'm 19 weeks and still down around 5 pounds (also thanks to hypermesis gravidarum) and my doctor isn't worried, but I was a bit overweight to start out with because I still hadn't lost all the baby weight from my first pregnancy. I know I gained most of my weight in the third trimester last time, and baby's size has always been where it should be when I've gotten ultrasounds, which is the main thing.

I never worried. I lost in the beginning and didn't start gaining until 20 weeks. I ended up gaining 28 lbs.

I started at a normal weight (115) and gained 18 lbs. didn't start gaining until week 23-24. The nurse always fussed at me, but my doctors were never concerned.

Hmmm... I'm 27 weeks and only up 4 pounds. BUT, I started overweight. My Dr. isn't concerned, but again, I have plenty to lose and then some. She thinks I should only be gaining 10-15 pounds this pregnancy.

But, if you're at a healthy weight, then I have no idea :bummed: Hopefully your Dr will have some better insight! And if you have to just sit around eating a carton of ice cream each day... I suppose there are worse problems

Are you still having nausea problems?

I was finally diagnosed with hyperemesis for my pregnancy, I lost 13 pounds total, by week 16 I had regained 3 and she told me to come back in 4 weeks. Now I am almost 20 and I have only gained 1 more pound, which still puts me at -9.

At what point do we worry? What are the potential issues? Anything I should ask I particular? Is working out an issue? I am mainly walking but often for 2+ hours a day in addition to general daily activity.
