@edelweiss: It has gotten better on and off. Last night wasn't too terrible, but the night before she just wouldn't sleep. I'm pretty sure LO#1 did the same thing but I just have blocked it from my memory (and with him we didn't have another child we were worried about waking with the baby's cries!)

Definitely an adjustment!

DD was the same way, and we coslept because of it. I think I actually slept in a chair for the first three months of her life. So I don't have any recommendations for that, but it will sooo get easier!

I have two as well and really struggled in the beginning, but it gets so much easier. I now love having two and hope to convince DH for a third. YOU GOT THIS! You are a champ at newborns already, you did it once! And looking back on this, you won't even remember the first few weeks, because you were so sleep deprived hahaha

major kudos to you for handling two LO's, and one that's not a good sleeper! my 9 week old is not a good sleeper and i can barely hold it together with just one LO! you are doing an amazing job, just by getting through each day. i agree with pastemoo about asking family/friends for help.

we hit a nadir a few weeks ago and i was *this* close to hiring a night nurse, regardless of the cost--and honestly if i had to do it again i would have hired one to get me through that period.

oh, our LO wasn't really into the swaddle either. because i drank the happiest baby on the block water, i persisted with the swaddle until couple of weeks ago, when i started letting his arms out and let him sleep on his side (he has pretty good head control). as soon as you feel comfortable with it, maybe you could put her on her side and see if she likes it better?

does she like falling asleep in the carrier or a swing? our LO doesn't like to fall asleep many places (very picky), but he does fall asleep in the carrier. that might give you some more mobility.

everyone says it gets better by 3 or 4 months. when i heard that at 3 weeks, when his sleep started going downhill, i wanted to cry. i still do. but as i'm sure you remember with your first LO, every day crawls by but the weeks and months fly by.

sorry i don't have anything much helpful, but i'm here to empathize.

You can do it! Invite someone over to watch them while you take a 2 hour nap--do this daily.
I had a bought of really bad sleep deprivation around 5 months and I thought I was going insane.

It is not just OK, it is GOOD to ask for help!

You can do it. Sleep deprivation sucks! DS would freak out being swaddled at first, but I had to remember it was what was best for him and he'd eventually calm. It'll get better!

I am a mother of two: LO#1 is 2.5yrs old and LO#2 is 3weeks old. DH and I now know first hand why sleep deprivation is used as a torment technique!

We are so exhausted since the arrival of LO#2. She is the complete opposite of LO#1. He liked being swaddled and would sleep well in it at night, she hates the swaddle and insists on having her arms free (but then doesn't sleep well). During the day she sleeps well -- mostly because she is sleeping on one of us, inclined and on her tummy.

I am losing it. I need some words of encouragement, reminders on how long this day/night/lack of sleep (to remind me it won't last much longer), helpful hints. anything please!!
