We went through a period of clicking, too. I also read how it was a sign of a bad latch and kept trying to correct it but I gave up. She eventually stopped. It lasted maybe 3 weeks around the 2 month point I believe. It was almost like once we had gotten the hang of nursing she got lazy? I think she figured out she got more milk the other way and stopped.

I read the same thing as lawbee. C does that occasionally, usually a little bit into the session when she's getting lay I think. I had heard it was bad and kept relay hung her without improvement until I gave up- I wasn't in pain, she was happy, so I let it go. She does it a few times a day now where there will be a few minutes of the smacking noises then it stops.

@rahlyrah: Is it sort of a clicking sound? M does this a few times per nursing session. I think it's related to my overactive letdown. Here's where I read about it:

Sounds like he's breaking suction? Do you have an over active let down? Mine (12 months) does this but it's when she gets a little lazy with her latch.

Sometimes when B is nursing he makes a smacking sound. It almost sounds like the sound you'd make while kissing. His latch and positioning look good, I'm not in pain, and my nipple isn't creased when I unlatch him. It doesn't happen the whole time, but on and off throughout the session.

Any idea what would cause this?
