@Bao: i have to agree with Bao. If you're really only going to use it this one time ... i would say buy a cheap umbrella stroller for $20 once you get to chicago.

Since you don't need it for very long, could you get away with using a cheap umbrella stroller? And maybe buy a pouch to hang off the back to hold things in?

We have the Maclaren Quest and it's pretty compact, but this one looks better: http://www.shopmaclarenbaby.com/Volo-Strollers/volo,default,sc.html

@septca: I wish! I'm always jealous when I see some of you on here talking about your local listserv, there are none anywhere near us.

Do you live in an area with a neighborhood listserv? Rather than buying a new stroller, you might post to see if anyone has an umbrella stroller you can borrow or buy for cheap. (We did this and got a nice used Maclaren for free before we went to Europe last summer!)

We got the First Years Ignite for travel and have no complaints other than my tall toddler being able to reach her feet around the "footrest" and stop the wheels in motion. Wouldn't be a problem with a smaller child. I think it was something like $50 on amazon but it is so much nicer than your typical umbrella stroller and has nice bulky wheels.

We have the Chicco Liteway Plus. It's an umbrella stroller that lets the Keyfit click into it, which is why we got it to begin with. Roomy, reclines some, and folds up small.

We are going on our first family vacation on Friday - a long weekend in Chicago with our 1 year old son, plus we are meeting up with some out of state friends of mine who all have babies that are our son's age! One of these friends lives near the Baby Jogger factory, and she was able to snag a great deal for us on a City Mini Double stroller (we're expecting our second baby in October) and is bringing it with her to Chicago to give to us. The catch there is that while we're in Chicago she will need to use the stroller for her kids, since obviously she doesn't want to bring two double strollers on the plane, I don't even think they would allow her to do that.

So this means that DH and I will have to bring our own single stroller with us to use in Chicago, then on the way home we'll have the single stroller plus the double. I don't want to bring our stroller we use at home because it's huge and bulky, too much of a pain when we'll also have a double stroller we're transporting. So I'm searching for a single stroller to take with us that will fold up to be fairly compact, is comfortable enough for navigating through Chicago, and ideally isn't too expensive since I don't see us using it a lot once Baby #2 arrives. Any suggestions?
