My kids want to snack all the time too and if I don't make them something it quickly turns into "nurse? Nurse? Nurse?" all day. I think some of it is boredom, like what @Mamaof2: mentioned, because if we are out of the house doing something they do fine without snacking!

Usually when DD1 is really tired or bored, she'll ask for more food than usual. But, if I feel like she's really hungry, I make sure I tell her she needs to eat something with protein, like milk, chicken, etc, before she can have something more carb heavy.

@sorrycharlie: is she bored? My kids ask for food when they are bored - I usually try to find a new activity if they just recently had a snack

My 3.5 year old asks for snacks ALL. DAY. LONG.

It makes me a little insane. I offer her things that are on the healthier side, or try to - goldfish sneak in there :) - but man. I feel like every few minutes I hear, "I'm hungrrrrry. I want a snaaaaack." Regardless of when she last ate.

I did find doing a carb snack before bed helped her sleep better! She also outgrew all her pants this past week so there's that.. I need to sneak some more protein into her smoothies.

Anyone else with a constant snacker?
