Smoked salmon on top of softened cream cheese with dill mixed in and topped with a caper all on a cracker. I use the squeezable herbs in the cold produce section.

If someone is bringing sweet, I would bring savory for sure. Agree on foods that aren't too loud. Sliced up baguette, some buttery crackers (like Breton - they are softer so aren't too loud), and a selection of cheeses and pre-sliced salami might be nice. I'd go with like a goat cheese, a cheddar/gruyere, a brie, and maybe a very small piece of bleu or something a little different like dill havarti or pepperjack. Throw it all on a platter or cutting board with a few knives.

Or you can make a warm dip like spinach artichoke or sausage dip and serve it with slices of baguette or hunks of bread.

@mediagirl: Im always for basic stuff. Usually I like a veggie tray but you probably dont want to be munching too loud if you are listening to a speaker.

What about some of those cheese ball recipes.

I would have a few options

some fresh fruit - cuties are delicious right now!
Mini muffins
something yummy - cookies or brownies

What about just a cheese tray with some fancy crackers and grapes. What type of event is this? Will there be other snacks or just what you bring?

I'm going to a meeting tonight with about 10 other women. I offered to bring a snack and I'm stumped. I need something quick and easy and would prefer to make it over buying it but I am willing to buy. I have about an hour to prep at home before I have to leave. Help!
