And for being so helpful when this all went down, of course. :heart: </p> <p>Don't get me started on my hatred for Sneak Peek. :meh: But since you asked.....</p> <p>(tl;dr: I should have trusted the two highly trained technicians who did my ultrasounds instead of Sneak Peek.)</p> <p>I had NIPT done for both pregnancies, and with my son we found out the sex over the phone when the Geneticist called to tell us our risks (thankfully low and he is fine). For my daughter's pregnancy, I opted out of the sex of the baby on the NIPT form for a number of reasons I won't get into, but we did have the ultrasound tech seal it in an envelope at our 14-week NT scan, as well as our anatomy scan at 20. Both said girl. Long story short, I was stupid and couldn't believe it (this was the first girl after three boy cousins so pretty exciting for our family), and I thought it'd be fun to try Sneak Peek. At 20 weeks along, it should have been very easy for them to determine the sex of the baby at that stage of the pregnancy. The first sample was so hard to collect it looked like Dexter Morgan's kill room in my bathroom. After sending that back and waiting for ages, I was told it was a bad sample and I needed to do it again. Did a second sample (my poor fingers), followed the instructions to a T, and got a "Congratulations! It's a boy!" email a few days later. When I sent in the ultrasound of her non-boy parts, I was told I needed to submit a birth certificate as "evidence." In July my daughter was born, and I sent in the hospital birth certificate (you know, the temp one that even insurance happily accepts). Nope, not good enough for Sneak Peek. I had to get my daughter's official birth certificate scanned and sent to them for my money to be refunded. For me it was a lot of stress, honestly, and I wish I'd never done it.</p> <p>Like @MamaBear87: said, unless you're in a no-male household, I'm guessing contamination is pretty common. Apparently they have really gotta good compared to back when they first started. I ordered it cause they said its 99.6 percent accurate and if its wrong they give you a full refund. I ordered it as a birthday present for myself. I figured it would be fun to do. </p>
