@Mae: @Mrs. High Heels: I wear ear plugs too because of snoring. Oddly enough I always heard LO but didn't notice the snoring much.

@Mae: When I wear these earplugs (less noise cancellation), I was always able to wake up to the LO's cries! I could still hear the snores, but they were at least quieter... might be worth a shot? Do you have a baby monitor? http://www.amazon.com/Hearos-Ultimate-Softness-Earplugs-20-Pair/dp/B001EPQ3H4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1410296276&sr=8-2&keywords=earplugs

My DH is the same way. He used to not snore, but he gained some weight since having kids and its gotten worse. He snores less when he's on his side, so I usually nudge him and roll him over too. As long as I fall asleep before him, I'm fine... but he can knock out just like that so this doesn't always happen!

I wear earplugs to sleep - these ones are my favorite and have the highest noise cancellation levels - http://www.amazon.com/Hearos-Xtreme-Protection-14-Pair-Foam/dp/B001EPQ86A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410284852&sr=8-1&keywords=earplugs

We have a sleep number split bed so my DH sleeps kind of upright with his feet elevated. He has stopped snoring and he says his throat doesn't hurt anymore since he's stopped snoring.

@Mae: I'd be willing to bet he has apnea. I never thought my DH did, I thought it was really just snoring. He also prefers to sleep on his back. After doing a sleep study, it was confirmed that it really is apnea. Now we both sleep peacefully. He sleeps on his back and all I hear is a slight breeze sound of his cpap. Which is not at all disturbing to me. We both wake up better rested and less irritated. And surprisingly the mask doesn't seem to bother him. I think it would make me crazy if I had to wear it.

@lilyofthewest: lol we have those! And I have a sewing machine... hmmm haha. I'd actually heard of the tennis ball thing before and I threaten him with it all the time. The problem is that he really WANTS to sleep on his back because he feels better in the morning if he does. Which I get because I also get sore sleeping on my side. Ideally I'd love to find a way for him to sleep on his back and not drive me up a wall! I was hoping Breath Right was the answer... but not so much.

I second the doctor suggestion. I'm STILL pushing my DH (he's gone to the doctor, but not for any follow ups).

He won't go to the doctor unless he's dying either, but when it came down to me breaking into tears over how exhausted I was and how *I* have done everything I can (I wear earplugs, I got new pillows, I got a foam mattress topper so it didn't feel like there was an earthquake every night from him vibrating the bed, etc.)

Once I made it more about my sanity and something that I REALLY need...he's more responsive to actually taking a step.

Although it's been more than two years of me pushing...

Kicking is the only way I've found to make it *stop*, and sadly, it is a temporary reprieve.

However, we've found a few things that have reduced the frequency and raucousness of the snoring. Sweetie:
-lost weight
-sleeps with one of those contoured pillows that holds your neck in a neutral position
-uses the neti pot right before bed if he's feeling at all congested
-we got a memory foam topper that makes us both more comfortable side-sleeping

I think things also improved when we got a king sized bed -- before we were sharing a full. Sweetie just feels a lot more free to switch sleep positions with more room.

DH snores and usually I hit him to roll on his side. Right now he is congested, so it is really bad. I kicked him to the guest room last night. I am a horrible sleeper, wake up 5-10 times a night, so him snoring makes it worse.

My friend's mom used to some how attach a tennis ball to the back of her dad's shirt, when he rolled onto his back it was uncomfortable and he would go back to his side. Seems strange but it worked! We used to laugh at sleepovers when we saw him walking around with the ball in the back!

Yup, this was my DH and our battle. I spent many nights while pregnant the first time in our guest bed because of his snoring. He's since been diagnosed with apnea and sleeps with a cpap and it's so much better for both of us.

Unfortunately a horrible 'bout of anxiety where he self diagnosed himself with pretty much every horrible thing under the sun (including apnea) is what got us here. When his anxiety impacted his sleep he was willing to do ANYTHING to sleep again. Not that I recommend this course of action, but the cpap really has been wonderful for him.

DH only snores when he is stuffy. I poke him and get him to change positions.

I agree with Blackbird. If he is snoring every night there might be a problem. When I was a kid I snored loudly and had mild apnea. My adenoids were enlarged and had to be removed. I got them removed when I was around 12 and haven't had any problems since.

Constant snoring--I would make him see a doctor. Make sure nothing is obstructing his throat (large tonsils) or that there is something neurological going on. DH did this and has a rare form of apnea. I know getting a man to a doctor is like pulling their teeth, though. But his CPAP is a godsend. I had to basically put an ultimatum on him or i was going to strangle him in his sleep. Constant snoring isn't normal!

I dont have a solution, but sure wish I did. We are dealing with the same thing. DH has always snored, but it's gotten worse since I had DS and sleep more lightly. It's AWFUL. Sometimes, I just want to beat him at night. I really do. Lol

My husband snores. So. Effing. Loud. It's always been annoying but it didn't bother as much because it didn't wake me up, so it was only a problem as I was trying to fall asleep. If he sleeps on his side he either doesn't snore, or snores far more quietly, so I'd just make him lay on his side until I fell asleep.

Now it's a much bigger problem because first of all, I am up and down all night with the baby so the trying-to-fall-asleep stage happens every few hours (at least). Also I seem to sleep much more lightly now so his snoring does actually wake me up. Which is extra awesome, considering my general tiredness.

Right now we manage this by my poking him to roll over every time he rolls onto his back, but this means I'm still being woken all the time and he gets really cranky about my constantly waking him up to roll over (not that he doesn't understand by the light of day, but at 4am he's a bit less reasonable). Also he's been complaining now that his shoulder is hurting from all the side sleeping and that he feels better when he sleeps on his back.

We've tried the breath-right strips but first of all, they only work for half the night (they pop-off mid-night) and also he complains that they hurt his nose/make the skin hurt the day after he uses them.

Is there anything else we can do? I'm tired.
