@LindsayInNY: I got my 21 month old these ones: http://www.target.com/p/toddler-girls-alexus-bungee-rear-zip-winter-boots-navy/-/A-51190137

They are a little on the clunky side but I'm assuming she won't really use them that often. I also got her these super cute duck boot ones from Target but they were pull on and going to be a huge pain so returning them.

But now I'm second guessing myself that I should have gotten her nicer ones...

@littlebug: I hadn't thought of Target... I'll check!

@Mamaof2: She doesn't have any sort of waterproof boot so I just need something that'll work in the snow.

So far I'm really liking the Baby Bogs we got. We haven't gotten snow yet, but they're waterproof and will be good for walking in snow or rain, or slush which is usually our biggest problem. However, I don't think they'd be great boots for playing in the snow. But I don't worry too much about that since he didn't do it all last year when he was 2, and did it once the year before. We'll probably get some inexpensive Target boots again for snow play.

@LindsayInNY: Honestly at that age we just doubled up on warm socks and put her rain boots on. But we don't live in a climate that gets a ton of snow and she never stayed out long in it. For an older toddler I like LL Bean's Northwoods boots, I think they're called. They come with an extra liner that you can switch out if one set gets wet.

@littlebug: @LindsayInNY: agree and at 17 months how long will she actually be playing in the snow? Just get some warm wool socks and any waterproof boot will be fine

@LindsayInNY: Merrell Kids Snowbank.

I made the mistake of getting my son the really clunky boots and he couldn't walk in them. So, I found a flexible sole boot and this is actually the second pair I've gotten him.

This may not be much help, but since D goes through shoes so quickly and we only use boots a few times per winter, I buy mine at Target. Once he's in shoe sizes for more than a year at a time, I'll invest in something better, but for now $15 at Target is good enough.

Sorel or Kamik. Size up for both. We bought one pair of each this year. The Kamiks are easier to put on, but after stuffing the Sorels with paper for several days, they are easier to get on.

I got the ugg andirondack boots last year for Christmas... I've never been a fan of traditional uggs because they aren't practical in my climate but these are the BEST! Super warm, even for our brutal Canadian winters, and cute as well. I can wear them out running errands, or playing in the snow with my kids. For milder days I love my LL Bean boots.
