This thread inspired me to look up Stonz - Amazon has several styles/sizes for only $19.99: https://www.amazon.com/Stonz-Season-Booties-Weather-Toddler/dp/B00V7Z1BSC/ref=pd_lpo_309_bs_lp_t_2

I just grabbed those adorable little sheep ones for DD. Hoping I got the sizing right. She has really little feet.

I preferred snow pants with a bib and jacket over top rather than a full on snow suit when my son was small, I felt it helped him to move better.

I made mistakes with his boots and didn't get flexible soles, but I am not sure what's out there for the under 2 year old set right now...I have Merrells for my son and he can wear them all day comfortably.

@Foodnerd81: I agree with previous posters about the stonz booties. I bought some for D since I figure he will start walking sometime this winter. Very flexible. I haven't gotten the liners yet though. We have a REI down bunting that I will just put his rain suit over if we are out in the snow. I bought snowstopper brand of mittens for R as they have long cuffs. I am probably going to get the same brand for S and D. I've read good things about stonz mitts but they're more expensive. We have a variety of warm hats. I am also in New England :)

I agree with @Charm54: the one piece snow suit (i'm in canada and we get the MEC one but the LLbean on is similar).

Everyone up here recommends Stonz with liners for new walkers.

I am obsessed with Mimitens mitts for both my kids and the Mimitens booties for my youngest who is just learning how to walk. They have long sleeves on them that go under the snowsuit. I think they are genius, they can't be pulled off. http://www.mimitens.com

I also have a pair of Stonz boots for her that work well and are better for full out playing in the snow. https://www.stonzwear.com

For snow suit I buy the LL Bean one piece for both my girls. They are amazing quality and the grow cuffs mean they last more than one season. The first one I bought went through 2 winters with my first DD and will get 2 winters with my second, so four total and it is still in excellent shape.

http://m.llbean.com/product.html?bc=&skCatId=83470#83470

I also bought the LL Bean hats this year and they are amazing ans can't be pulled off. I don't see it online anymore to show you a link though. It was called the "Triple peak toddler hat"

These are the mimitens that I

My MIL bought my son some Crocs snow boots this year. I had no idea they sold kid's snow boots! He's 2.5, so not an early walker, but the tops are soft and bend/move easily. The bottoms are really solid and are lined with fleece. He loves wearing them and runs around in them all the time. Maybe they are worth looking into? Here's the ones he has: http://www.crocs.com/p/kids-crocband-lodgepoint-boot/203509.html?cgid=snow-boots&cid=6LR#start=14

Oh and we live in MN, so lots of snow and freezing temps and they have worked well so far!

@Foodnerd81: I had something like the Columbia Baby Bugababy Bunting that all my kids have used between about 10-18 months, it has a zip out fleece liner and seems very warm and you can also fold over their hands and feet so we really just used that with warm clothes underneath. It was from amazon and as I recall was around $30-40, I see a girl pattern now for 46 but if you look around and are open to different patterns you could maybe find for cheaper.

@youboots: oh wow. That's a good deal. And yeah the rain boots don't make sense for us since we won't be outside playing in the rain, at this age, but will in the snow. In the rain I'll just carry her and run.

@Foodnerd81: I buy on clearance the year before or BST. Check out eBay. I know bogs are really popular too. Hunters are good for our climate since we deal with mostly lots of rain.

@youboots: are the tiny hunter boots flexible enough for a super early walker? I feel like both those brands are going to be too expensive for something that will get so little use- and I'm asking grandpa for it so they won't shop BST on Fb or anything.

What did your early walker wear for playing in the snow? My almost one year old is about to walk and we live in New England, so we will get snow. I know we will be outside playing with her big sister. So I want some that will keep her comfortable and she will be able to move in, but don't want to break the bank on something that will get minimal use.

What worked best? One piece or two? Footwear? She will be a really new walker so I think any real boots would be impossible. Maybe those waterproof booties that go over shoes?
