It was an unnecessary expense and we were fairly poor. My grandparents kept it in their house, though and we always drank it there. Even now, I like soda, but will choose iced tea or water over it any day. It's rare I have it...I feel guilty over the calories. This was rare, however. My mom was always really health conscious and did not want me having sugar. I wasn't a hyper child or anything so it really didn't make me act out or anything. I actually never used to drink anything except soda or juice. Now I drink water all day. It took Weight Watchers to teach me that drinking soda all day was really unhealthy for me. When you get a limited amount of calories/points/what have you per day, you really start to use those towards actual food LOL</p> <p>If/when I have a child I will limit their soda intake. It's a really expensive habit to have! I'm still totally addicted to soda but have since moved on to diet coke. We still buy sprite for them when they come over! To this day I can only drink half a can of soda and its enough for me, I cant finish the whole thing. I think it restriction was a good technique for me growing up, only cause I learned it was for healthy eating habits and accepted it. There were no set rules about it but it certainly wasn't an every day thing. I sort of associated drinking a can of coke with an occassion like a holiday or a cook out at someone else's house so we must not have had it at home very much.</p> <p>I will probably do the same.
