Thanks guys! Sometimes you feel better in these situations just having other people commiserate. I appreciate it :)

@Dandelion, @cheesetomywhine, @BabyBoecksMom: that seems to be the general consensus so I held off on calling the ped. Yuck.
@jmarionsmith: I had no idea about the pinkeye! Double yuck and thanks!
@Navy_Mommy: Thank you so much! I don't know how I didn't come across that blog with all my googling!
@Torchwood: @sorrycharlie: The Britax website confirms not to wash the straps. I never would have known! I went to town with the disinfectant wipes and DH moved the seat from his car into mine until we can clean the old one a few more times. Hopefully we can salvage it!

Oh yuck!!! I am so sorry. I've also heard to never wash the straps.

From what I've read, you should never ever wash/soak the straps on a car seat. If you have, you should contact the manufacturer and they *should* provide you with new ones. But I bet that takes a while, so I guess you'll just have to clean them and use them until you can get new ones? So sorry you had to deal with this! These are the horror stories that I dread.

That is one huge blowout! I wouldn't worry about her getting some in her mouth (I'm surprised she kept chewing on it w/ that disgusting taste - haha). I'm sure it has to happen to other kids at some point in time.

As far as the straps, I think you'll just have to wash them in the sink w/ some soap and water and leave it outside to dry. What a pain - I'm sorry you're dealing with that :-(

We have had some pukes in the carseat and what we did was take off and machine wash whatever we could and put the rest in the shower for a good rubdown. You can also use those Clorox wipes - hope that helps! Yuck! Sh** happens!

Eta-.only happened once which was enough for me

Wow, gross! It happens, though.

Even though it's mortifying, a little poop shouldn't hurt her.

I have no advice on the straps, though...hopefully another bee can give you some good advice. There must be a way to clean them...after all, babies do stuff like this a lot, and I can't imagine that carseat straps can't be washable.

We're having a horrible day over here. I packed M in the car to meet friends at the kiddie pool and she had a DISASTER blow out in the car. Her hands were in it and it was absolutely everywhere. It was in her hair, ears, everywhere. The car seat was filled with poop and it was all over the straps. When I went to get her out the poop-covered strap was in her mouth. She loves teething on that strap. Needless to say we skipped the pool and I've been cleaning ever since. I think we literally might have to replace the car seat because the manual says you can't remove the straps and they are completely soaked in poop. I want to cry.

All the other issues aside, should I be worried about the poop in her mouth? As a nurse I'm thinking "somebody get some antibiotics over here!". Please tell me I'm overreacting.
