Nigerians have been protesting since the girls were taken but international attention does wonders for getting people to realize that this will not blow over. Acts of terror can often be a precursor to genocides and civil wars. If groups like the Taliban are allowed to carry on virtually unnoticed then nothing will ever stop them. It's such a heartbreaking situation. I just can't even imagine.</p> <p>When I first heard the news story, it immediately reminded me of a movie called Girl Rising, which follows the stories of six girls from around the world who are desperate to get an education but face extraordinary obstacles. It's a harsh reminder of the gender inequality that still exists in so many cultures.
