@SweetiePie: yes! I hate the smell of self tanners....then Clarins is still a bit self tanner-ish but a lot better than the others I've tried!

@Caly: Yes!!! I use that when I'm worried about the color from the St. Tropez foam running (since it is tinted). And it is SOOO moisturizing! And I guess its less offensive than most when it comes to a smell. Though I still think it eventually smells like self tanner, once the nicer lotion smell has worn off.

I agree - I think you need something less gradual!

@grizz: Right?!? I love it! I try to ration it because I love it so much :-) I should probably start using it on my legs since I am beach bound next week!

@lizzywiz: That's what I was going to say - maybe you need something that isn't so gradual. I like the St. Tropez brand foam and it has a tint to it so you get instant color.
I also like this one by Clarins:
http://m.sephora.com/delectable-self-tanning-mousse-spf-15-P257702?skuId=1241850

But of course, everyone is different with their skin tone. Either way, I'd find something that wasn't so gradual. :-)

@mrs. bird: I use Jergans but I think that may be the problem- I never get past day 1 because of the shaving and whatnot exfoliating the top layer off.....(?)

Have you tried one of the gradual ones in lotion? Those are nice because you add a little color each day & it's moisturizing.

I am uber white and uber dry (live in the desert).
I like to use fake tanners on my legs to tone down the fish belly white glare just a notch. But I have to exfoliate first or I will get blotchy. And I also shave and what not through out the week. So I feel like I never build up a tan because I am always scrubbing it off....am I doing it wrong?
