The reason I started was totally self-serving - they live across the country and we only see them 1 time each year in the summer, so I started sending the baskets as kind of a "reminder" of who I was and trying to get the kids to like me. It doesn't have to be a gift! My mom is good about sending kids in the mail or postcards when they're away. It got me thinking, why do we send gifts?</p> <p>I told her I send gifts because it sort of makes up for me not being there in person (since I'm across the country and miss out on birthdays and other events). </p> <p>I don't mean to turn Easter into another gift buying holiday. I could send money but I guess it's a bit impersonal. </p>
