@BabyBoecksMom: I feel stupid for saying this, but i didn't realize there was a difference between gripe water and gas drops! i assumed they were different terms for the same thing :silly:

I will say, the gas seemed to be way less yesterday than the past few days. I'm hoping she's on the upswing!

@Pirouette: have you tried gripe water? Gas drops did nothing for my girls but the gripe water really settled their stomachs.

@LuLu Mom: thanks, that's a thought, though we haven't really changed it up. She takes most of her milk from the same bottle she's always used, and water from her sippy. She definitely prefers the sippy, but I don't think she's ready to give up bottles entirely yet.

@BunnyDragon: that's awesome. Thanks so much - and yes, it's so hard!!

@Pirouette: good luck! It's so hard to see our LOs experiencing discomfort. It worked for my LO very quickly. We saw a difference in a day or two.

Another thing could she be getting too much air with her bottles? Maybe a slower nipple or different nipple now that she's older? just a different suggestion!

When my LO was old enough to eat yogurt, I just tried the yogurt by itself. The probiotic drops made a big difference so I had to start giving it to my LO again. The probiotic drops were a big part of my LO's first year. Let's just say that I would start experiencing anxiety if we were running low. Lol.

@BunnyDragon: I was thinking of looking into probiotics - thanks for the rec, i'll look into those! we were also thinking of introducing yogurt to her soon...would that provide the same benefits as straight probiotics do you think?

I know it's kinda expensive, but I gave my LO probiotic drops (Biogaia brand now labeled as GERBER Soothe Colic Drops Probiotic Supplement) for his gas problems. It worked so much better than simethicone drops.

@NurseMommy: we upped her to 3 meals a day at the advice of her ped when she wasn't eating enough (milk or solids) at around 7 months. so it's been about 1.5 months. It certainly could be too much solids - i do think she eats a slightly higher solids to milk ratio than is recommended at her age, but it's been the only way we've been able to get her to eat well and gain weight- girl loves her real food!! and obviously we did it at the advice of her ped, which doesn't necessarily make it right i know. but yea, it could be overload...i just don't know how to adjust it? we don't feed her a set amount. I was thinking of maybe spreading her feeding over 4 meals instead of 3 so she can digest in smaller amounts?

How long has she been eating three meals a day? It could be too many solids for her tummy at that age?

@Dandelion: not that i'm aware of! but she also gets pumped milk during the day, so it's almost impossible to say what i ate that day. i will say my diet is remarkably boring (or at least consistent) so it's unlikely i introduced anything unusual at any point.

The past 2 nights, my LO has literally been up all night in discomfort, and she's probably passed gas 30+ times over the course of the night. Not normal and it's clearly bothering her. she tries and tries to go to sleep and then wakes up a few minutes later with more gas. It's horrible, for all of us! :crying:

She is BF as well as eating a lot of solids (3 fairly sizable and varied meals a day), but we haven't introduced anything new in a while. She poops daily, doesn't strain, and she generally is a very happy baby. but yesterday she had a low fever (99.5) and her teeth seemed to really bother her. not sure if that has anything to do with it, but her top gums are very swollen. then again, i could blame teething for months, right?

We've been giving her gas drops, but other than that i really don't know what to do! i'm already dairy free, and we were actually hoping to try dairy around 9 months, but haven't yet. I just don't know how to make her feel better so she (we) can get some sleep!

I know none of you can tell me what's wrong with my LO, but just wondering if anyone went through this around this time (she's 8.5 months)? i hesitate to jump to any major medical issues at the moment, as this really seems to be just some build up that's bothering her at night, and she's otherwise doing well.
