I got the book Pinkalicious and we started it last night. It was to long to finish.
She did wake up last night which is odd for her. She wondered into the living room like she was up for the day (little stinker). I couldn't believe she was up but then she asked to share her Dad's pizza he was having which clearly wasn't pink. Looks like the phase may be passing.

I have heard of this happening with other colors, but not pink! Hopefully she will give it up once she realizes there are not too many options for pink foods :P

DD wouldn't eat any white food. Mashed potatoes, cauliflower, fish, milk, chicken, etc. for a long time. I think dying it would be fun for the kid (think about them telling their friends "MY mom makes all my food pink!")

Lol I guess I'm in the minority. I went through a green phase when I read Green Eggs & Ham. My mom indulged me with food coloring and it's a cute childhood memory. I'd indulge it for a few days!

DS1 is obsessed with purple and we do purple plates/bowls etc when possible, if none are clean I tell him and he deals. I'd recommend this approach!

@wonderstruck: haha i think i would do this too :) no way man. Kids have crazy imaginations and i can only imagine what would be next! I like the pink cup and plate idea too. Maybe if she does a good job trying all of her colors then picking out a new plate or cup could be an incentive.

A Facebook friend mentioned Pinkalicious - I am heading to the library today to pick it up! My Mom said she ate cereal and milk for breakfast so hopefully it was just a dinner thing last night. I love all the comments. I keep beets at home so that is a great tip the next time this happens... I didn't think of that one.

I definitely would not make an effort to colour anything pink. This is one of those control issues that I wouldn't play into.

Maybe I'm a mean mom, but I would probably just laugh and say, "Yes, it would be neat if we could just make all of our food our favorite color, wouldn't it?" and be silly and talk about pink peas, pink corn, pink mashed potatoes, anything like that.

Then I would serve her normal food and she would get pretty hungry if she actually tried to make this a real serious thing where she actually would only eat pink.

LOL!!

I wouldn't only give her pink things. One a meal, at most. I would give her pink plate, cup, and spoon/fork and see if that helps.

Oh my! All beet everything should square it around! I would probably just ignore it and not cater to it. When she gets hungry enough she will eat what's served!

You should read Pinkalicious! It's about a little girl who eats a ton of pink cupcakes and turns pink. She was fine with that but then are one more and turned red instead which did not make her happy. It's pretty cute and might be a fun approach. The solution was to eat nothing but green until she turned back so maybe you could convince her to eat a green something for every pink item.

Dwight Schrute fun aside, I agree that I probably wouldn't cater to that type of thing. BUT maybe that will mean your kid will eat a lot of meat! You can probably convince her that chicken, pork, and beef are all shades of pink. :)

Or maybe you can tell her she can have 1 pink thing with her meal if she eats everything else. Especially since you wouldn't want her to ask for pink food because she associates it with sugar or desserts. I'd have to control what the pink food was - whether its watermelon or prime rib.

I'd probably not give in, I mean, it's not a motor issue, it's just an exercise of control. Granted, I do a lot of extra crap to cater to my son's eating issues that I would never wish on another parent, so that colors my experience.

What about a pink plate?

Yeah you probably need to blend a few beets into everything. Costco sells pre-cooked vacuum sealed Love Beets in 3-packs that you can puree and chuck into everything, if it helps!

Beet mashed potatoes, beet scrambled eggs, rice mixed with beets, shredded chicken tossed with beets...its like Dwight Schrute's dream!
