OMG! YES!!!!! Everyone on BOTH sides of our family now has voiced their opinion that they hope we're having a girl. However, at our NT scan (and even my maternal instincts before the NT scan) revealed we're having a boy. I feel like we're disappointing them, and they won't be as excited for him, but for me and the hubby, we're just extremely happy we have a healthy baby after our loss recently. They just don't know we did so it hurts a lil more.

My family would have preferred a boy, someone even told me something like "you can always have another" if it's not a boy... Whatever. We had a girl, and she is totally loved!

Oh man, there hasn't been a girl born into my husband's family in 75 years...just boy after boy after boy...talk about pressure! And it'll be worse if we decide to have a second baby because we're the last ones to have kids (my BsIL are both fixed), and we're only planning on two max, so it'll be the family's last shot at getting a girl.

The good news is, once he was born everyone was gaga over him, even though he wasn't the girl everyone wanted (seriously, on vacation a BIL knelt down to my belly and chanted "girl girl girl..." for like 5 minutes).

ETA: We were Team Green

Ugh, yeah. All of the grandkids except one have been boys. Noooo shortage of boys. So everyone kept joking that we had to add some more equality to the mix. Alas, we had a boy anyway! And of course everyone adores him but at first I felt irrationally like I let people down.

I completely understand. It seems everyone we know is constantly harassing us to have another and make it a girl next time. Umm, if I can place an order I actually want another boy so I can recycle 100% of what I've acquired, lol!

That is really crummy. I'm team green and MIL keeps asking me what I think I'm having and how she thinks a boy first would be so good. It doesn't matter how many times I tell her I have no feeling either way and who says we are having more than one.

How will they feel themselves if he ends up being a he? Maybe you should ask them that... I'm sure once they think about it they know they won't love him any less, and saying the girl preference out loud only makes them look bad... maybe they'll bite their tongue

After we lost our daughter at 20 weeks, my family just wants a baby. DH and I feel the same way. We don't care boy or girl. We just want our baby here.

Oh yes...my DH was the youngest of 3 boys so his parents really wanted LO to be a girl. His dad begged for a girl to break the unlucky streak...lol!

My MIL put a lot of pressure on me to make a girl. She said she NEEDED me to have a girl. She only had boys herself, so she's wanting to live vicariously through me. Lucky for her, it's gonna be a girl. I really thought she was going to cry if it was a boy. In fact, when dh's younger brother was born, she DID cry when she learned it was a boy!

Luckily I haven't had to deal with it because my parents and in-laws just want a healthy baby (or at least if they have a preference they are keeping it to themselves). But, my best friend is also pregnant, and her in-laws talk non-stop about how the baby has to be a boy. It drives her nuts. She's always wanted to be Team Green, but they will be finding out now because she is worried her in-laws will ruin the birth if it's a girl. (She also used to want a boy but now she's hoping it's a girl just to piss them off.) I feel bad for her!! Like you said, it's not something you can control!

That would REALLY make me mad. I would say something if I were you. Honestly do they think you have any control over the gender?!?

I am seriously so sick and tired of people (especially my mom) begging for a girl, as if I can control it. It is getting really stressful. I mean, it is quite literally all they talk about when it comes to this baby. I wont even know the gender for another 2 months! 1 month if we cave and do the elective gender scan. I mean, what happens if it is a boy? Will they somehow love it less or resent it somehow? It feels like it, even though that is totally irrational.

Has anybody else felt like this when it comes to family wanting one gender over another?
