lol this is hilarious and sad. I don't have a LO yet but I'm sure I'll do the same! I currently wake up 3-4 times to pee and we frequently have cats banging on our door that we have to go yell at in the middle of the night. My husband always comments about how quickly I fell back asleep after getting up to deal with the cats or after getting up for the 3rd time and I'm like wha…? I thought I actually slept through last night! No memories are created for me between 12-6am I don't think.

@shopaholic: Autopilot - perfect terminology!! DS wakes up every 1-2 hours right now. On the days he lets me sleep 2 hours vs 1 hour, I'm like OMG!!You did so good!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! *face palm*

Oh man! That's sadly hilarious! There have definitely been nights where I don't even remember waking up with the baby. it's like you can run on autopilot.

@birdofafeather: When he started going from waking up every 2 hours to waking up every 4-5 hours, I had that same reaction! It definitely took a couple days for the girl's to adjust.

Hahaha. My daughter really did STTN for the first time in months last night and I woke up totally confused and still not totally sure it was right. My super engorged leaky boobs let me know it was true though. I definitely didn't feel as rested as I thought I would have been!

While I haven't done exactly that, I've definitely forgotten motn wake ups and been really confused. The blooming diaper is hilarious.

...tricked myself into thinking LO STTN. Seriously.

He woke me up at his usual up-for-the-day time and I looked down at him, ecstatic - "Good morning, baby! You slept so well!" I did not feel rested. At all. But he hadn't woken up, meaning I had gotten my first >4 hour sleep in four months, so maybe I just have to adjust. DH was not off work yet, so I texted him the good news, not wanting to get use to it, but thinking that this may turn things around some!

Then I looked at the area we change him during the night and there is a dirty diaper sitting there. Just sitting there in the early morning sunshine, opened like a flower in bloom. A smelly, terrible flower. And there is an opened container of donuts by the bed. And then it hits me - he did wake up. Twice. And, apparently, I was so tired and hungry that I a) didn't even adequately dispose of a diaper, b) broke out a box of donuts, completely bypassing anything healthy in the house and c) completely forgot all about it all for a good hour.

I can barely remember anything of either of these wakeups save for delicious chocolate pastry and some crummy ABC Family Christmas romance playing on TV as I shove baby to boob and donut to mouth. It makes me wonder what else I do practically in my sleep.
