I called a few places and stopped in every store along the walk route, but to no avail. About two weeks ago, we gave up the ghost and bought a new lovey, thinking this one was gone for good. We got the same dog doll and another one as well, an elephant ballerina. The story was that he left and came home with a new friend. When LO saw her "old" lovey, she got super excited and immediately put him in her mouth :) I was still sad but getting over it, and LO honestly didn't know the difference. She reaches for him and her new elephant constantly. It's been good, and we put our phone numbers on their tags, just in case.</p> <p>WELL. It turns out that was not the end of it. I got a call this morning from a woman who said, "I've found your dog! Well, actually I found it a long time ago, but I was taking a walk in the neighborhood and just now saw your poster." !!!!!!!!!!!!! Funny thing is, she lives 4 doors down from us, on the same floor, in the same building, and he's been there the entire time! But now he, the original lovey, is home for good, and we have a spare, just in case. I can't stop smiling. I know she doesn't know now, but I hope that in 20 years, she'll appreciate that someone returned the very first doll she ever got, the one that Mommy and Daddy bought her for her birth day, and the one who was waiting for her when she came to us.
