I don't like it now that he is heavier because I don't have a waist strap. There is too much weight on my shoulders. I am looking for another SSC.

I have the Bjorn One and I loooove it. I borrowed a couple of other carriers before buying it (the Ergo, the Manducca, and a Becco) and by far and away I preferred the Bjorn. I think the best part about it for us is how easily it adjusts between my husband and I, and how comfy our son is facing in or out. I've taken my son in it on 2 trips from Australia to Canada, at 4 months and 10 months, and it made airport walking/waiting a cinch. Highly recommended!

We have the bjorn one carrier and love it-- we find it easier to put on and more comfortable to wear than the ergo, and like the flexibility of positions;facing front or in like the ergo

But the original bjorn I'm not sure about

J hated facing towards me to start and didn't like our Ergo until he was bigger and could rest his arms up and over the top.
We used a hand me down Bjorn until he was happy in the Ergo.

I found the Bjorn to be much better than the Ergo with the infant insert until my LOs could sit in the Ergo without the insert. I'm sure I was doing it wrong, but the Ergo infant insert never felt secure to me, I only used it while at home. I never baby wore much though, mostly less than half an hour each time. My two were both born in the winter though, so I had a hard time dressing them warmly and cramming them into the Ergo, whereas they could wear a snowsuit with the Bjorn.

There are many better carriers out there than the bjorn!

@Mrs. Twine: said it perfectly. Just to add to what @Anagram: said, sometimes kids have developmental hip dysplasia, which means their hip issues develop over time so you might not know if there was an issue to exacerbate or not while they are so young. But my daughter did have very severe hip dysplasia so we never used one. That said, I know people who love theirs.

We got hand me down ones from my brother. I didn't like it with LO. I'm planning on getting a Tula and K'tan as carriers this time around.

We had a hand-me-down one and found it good for the younger infant days. Our LO never had preexisting hip issues, so there wasn't an issue to exacerbate.

With the original, there's not a waist support belt, so it's not very comfortable for older babies that are heavier.

The new Bjorn One is pretty cool though!

We used ours sparingly. It was not very supportive and we were concerned about the hip issue, but I figured using it for a quick walk every so often would be ok.

They are what is referred to in polite company as a "narrow based carrier." Simply, it means that there is less of a base so that an infant has more pressure on his or her groin area in the carry. It's not dangerous or bad, but there is some concern that it may exacerbate hip dysplasia and doesn't offer very good ergonomic support. I have also found them to be (mostly) uncomfortable for the adults because they don't distribute weight as well. If you'd like to use yours and you are interested in making it more similar to the Beco in terms of support for your child there is a great scarf hack: http://www.fineandfairblog.com/2013/12/narrow-based-carrier-scarf-hack.html

I use a Beco Gemini but have a hand me down Baby Bjorn that DH wants to use but I think there is something about it not being good for LO's hips? But why would they keep selling it? and I see people using it?
