I met Hubs and we "hung out" for 6 months, then I broke it off because he wouldn't commit. I had moved in with my ex but he became abusive and I finally had enough and moved out on my own. Best decision I ever made! He turned out to be someone completely different (I'm not the only one that thinks this, he lost childhood friends because of his behavior). I was devastated, but looking back now it was the BEST thing that could have happened to me! Late 2002/early 2003 it was already rocky. By 2004 I filed for divorce and it was official by 2005, the year I met DH. This is long... sorry!</p> <p>My first boyfriend and I started dating a couple of weeks into our last year of high school. We dated all through grade 12. I was SO on love with him. Then the summer came and I was moving away to a University several hours and a ferry ride away. We kept up the long distance thing for that first year. Then when I moved back to school the following year things were different. I was tired of having to spend so much time on the computer chatting, and we had nothing to talk about anymore. I was bored... </p> <p>I'm still ashamed about how we broke up. He rode a bus for 12 hours to come and visit me on Canadian Thanksgiving while all my roommates were out of town, and I dumped him (probably completely out of the blue) the day after he got here. He then had to take the bus all the way back home again... Ugh I still feel bad about it.</p> <p>I started dating my now hubby less than a month after that. We dated for about 6 months. He was a drug addict (meth) and had physically abused his ex. (Not sure why I thought this was a good boyfriend choice!!!)</p> <p>He got nasty and more violent towards me over time and I immediately cut off contact and refused to communicate with him ever again when he made me fear for my safety and the safety of my roommates one evening. Then he stalked me for 6 months. </p> <p>When DH and I first got together, we actually ran into him and I was so freaked out that he would start harassing me again.
