I focused on all the healthy pregnancies that have come before. Every person in the world is born from a pregnancy that stuck . The odds were in my favor that mine would stick as well.
Congrats, today you're pregnant!

I was worried also, but just tried not to focus on that. I kept myself excited and prayed every day for a healthy baby. Fortunately, I have a healthy 15 month old now. Also, the more symptoms I had the more it reassured me.

First, congratulations!!

Unfortunately, I did miscarry my first, but I went on to have a healthy son who is now 6 weeks old! Most miscarriages are due to random occurrences, such as chromosomal issues, that are already determined and worrying will not change that outcome. I was a nervous wreck during my second pregnancy because I was terrified, but you kinda just have to realize that you don't have control over it and decide to think positively! I like to believe that every baby deserves to be celebrated, and you deserve to be excited about it :)

@Mrs.Hawk71: it's so, so hard not to worry, but @Mrs. Someone: is right-worrying does nothing but make it worse. Have hope-today you are pregnant! I hope that it goes well for you :)

For what it's worth, I found that joining the due date thread for the month I was due was really, really helpful. That way, we could all wait together and pass the time! There are threads started for both August and September 2014 already, so if you haven't yet, feel free to join in!

I'm not sure what your religious beliefs are, but I have found this verse to be useful, religious or not. "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" (Luke 12:25-26, if you were curious).

It really struck me from a non-religious aspect in college - what DOES worrying do for me? If I just do my best to be well and be safe, what more can I do and what would worrying actually change? Being able to get into that frame of mind really helped me just enjoy the ride. I mean, we were on vacation and I'd boogie boarded in the ocean, had a few cocktails on the beach, and sat in the hot tub for the 5 days before we got our BFP, but I knew I couldn't undo any of that, so I just let it be. Tough, but I knew I couldn't change it, so I consciously made myself let it go. Whether it's telling folks, writing in a journal, taking HPTs for 5 weeks until you get to your first appointment, whatever, do what helps you relieve that stress and try to just let it go (much easier said than done, I know). Congrats on your pregnancy!!

I'm only 5 weeks so I'm not very far ahead of you. The first week I was an absolute basketcase, especially because my betas were low. I really wanted to tell our families but was afraid to make too big of a deal out of if in case we didn't have a happy ending. I decided to tell them and to enjoy the moment. I think that definitely helped. I'm also just trying to be positive and hopeful. Hoping you have a happy and healthy 9 months, with as little worrying as possible!

Congratulations! It's so hard to not worry, especially when it's your first pregnancy. I took tons of HPTs while I was waiting for my first appointment and went on to have a healthy pregnancy. I delivered my daughter in October! I hope everything goes well with your pregnancy and I look forward to following your journey!

I was SO worried at first! Honestly the thing that made me feel better was telling people. I started telling my close friends the day I found out, and every time I told another person I felt better. Somehow I felt like the worst thing would be to lose the pregnancy and for it to be like it never happened. So the more people who knew, the more real it felt, like regardless of anything it was important and had happened. I really stopped worrying after my 8 week appointment when we saw our little girl was on track with size and we heard the heartbeat for the first time. Now I'm 22 weeks and everything still looks great :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy and I wish you the best!!

Congrats!!! It's so hard not to worry, but please don't drive yourself crazy worrying. My story is probably one you don't want to hear as I did miscarry my first daughter at 20 weeks. We just had our second daughter in October. It was a healthy and uneventful pregnancy. I hope everything goes well!

Im just over 4 weeks, and so very excited! But, since this is our very first, i am so worried about miscarrying that it sometimes takes away from my excitement.....did you have a healthy pregnancy with your very first baby? I know everyone is different and all the reasons are different..but i can't help but worry about it.
