@SugarplumsMom: they have checked for military id at the turnstile. Typically just the first day with the paper ticket.

@SugarplumsMom: maybe Disneyland is too busy to care, though.

@blackbird: Oj! That changes things. I will budget accordingly.

@yoursilverlining: I may opt for the CA discount ticket instead. Thanks!

@SugarplumsMom: every time I've used a military ticket at a theme park, someone has to show a military ID! Usually me ;)

We've had friends buy CA Resident tickets for us, and they've never checked at the gate. They just scan the ticket and in you go

@brownie: Thanks for your reply! Do you mean they checked for ID at Disneyland or while purchasing them on base?

Everytime we have bought military tickets on base, it does say that valid military if may be required. I think we only needed it one time of the many we used them. So it is possible.

@HabesBabe: Military tickets must be purchased at a base. So if we get them, it would be in person. The Disney website specifies that it must be bought by an eligible military service members, but the tickets can be used by friends and family.

Thankfully, buying them wouldn't be the issue for us since we have fam in the military. But I'm curious if they'll check IDs at the entrance booth.

From Disneyland's website-- you can purchase up to 6 tickets under this promo, and at least one of those tickets needs to be used by the active/retired military service member:

No more than six (6) Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased and (if applicable) activated by any Eligible Service Member or spouse (regardless of the place of purchase and whether purchased by that person or that person's spouse). In addition, one of the six (6) Tickets purchased must be used by the Eligible Service Member or his/her spouse.

Even better, I found a military rate. If a family member buys them for us, will we all need to show military ID at the entrance?

Does anyone know if they check IDs at the booth? I intend to order these beforehand but DH doesn't have a CA ID. Will they check IDs at the entrance?
