LO is 2 and I SAH. We have a playgroup that we meet up with 1-2 mornings per week. The other days we will go to the park, the children's museum, story time or some other local activity. We are out & about every morning and see the same friends on a regular basis but by midday we are home for lunch, a long afternoon nap and then we are rolling into getting ready for dinner, etc. So it's really not too hard to keep her busy!

I take LO to a music class and story time at the library. He has also been going to the nursery at church since he turned one. We are starting a mommy and me tumbling class in February through our local community center. I also SAH.

I have two littles (3yo and 9mo) and I always aim to do three "scheduled" activities each week. We currently do playgroup on Mon and Tues then a music class on Friday. We also have play dates and go to the park plus we're always running errands so both of my kids have plenty of opportunities to meet lots of different people.

I think that as long as you're out and about with your kids on a regular basis then they'll be fine!

@Foodnerd81: I know everything is going to change reeeeal quick and I'm planning more for 1yr-2yr. Not so much now. I think what were doing now is decent enough. I'll def look into other play groups for the future though! 😊

@Finfan: great suggestions, I'll look into those! Thank you!

@BelugaBean: I was thinking about starting swim lessons soon. There's a school near us that starts them as young as 2 months! I'd love to get him exposed to water before he develops a fear!

@Portboston: We joined a local MOMS Club when LO1 was about 9 months old. We met a lot of friends for both of us and have made more since we moved to a neighboring city and joined another one.

We've also done music and swim classes before and those were great, too.

Ooh two other options depending on your interest could be La Leche League or babywearing groups.

Are there any public playgroups in your area? Our school district runs several in different neighborhoods. Or do you have a Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPs) group?

There is a huge difference between a 6 month old and a 2 year old socialization! At 6 m play groups and library I think is plenty. As she gets bigger I think it will naturally evolve- LO has made friends at the playground and library, plus we have been friends with the same play group since she was a couple months old, so they have gone from sleeping or eating near each other to actually being friends and socializing (playing, stealing each other's toys, all of it). We also started going to a more formal "playgroup" that our town has, with circle time and stuff, where she learned to listen to the teacher and follow the rules a little. Our gym has a drop off program for 18m- 3 yo that she loves too.

I think as long as you make a point to go places with other kids that's good enough this early.

I am currently a SAHM with an (almost) 6 month old. DH and I are starting to look into preschools for part time care but probably won't get into one until LO is 2 yrs old due to wait lists/ratio changing at that time. In the mean time, I want to make sure I start doing some good socialization activities for LO as he grows. We already go to the library for the infant group and the babies do interact some but it's only 45 min long once a week. We also have a good friend with the same age baby and we hang out quite a bit. Any other suggestions for good ways to socialize a 6mo-2 yr old?
