If these embryos are fertilized and become children I don't see how Sofia can walk away from them. Our society has accepted and excuses from father's abandoning their children, but not women. The shame and backlash would hurt her even if she really felt she didn't want to be apart of their lives. I see it as more of an ethical dilemma. </p> <p>Those that are pro-life argue that a child is created at conception, and that seems to be his view as well. I'm not at all saying that he's right or wrong, but I see where he's coming from in his views. </p> <p>I do see this a little differently than abortion since the woman involved doesn't have to carry the embryos to term (therefore the "my body, my say" doesn't apply). </p> <p>With all of that said though, he signed a legal document that stated BOTH parties need to give consent. The situation in general is a good cautionary tale for couples choosing to do this though. Nick's argument is that the embryos should be treated like born children would be if he and Sofia were a divorced couple. She can waive her parental rights or she can split custody with them. Did anyone else catch his interview?</p> <p>When women have kids on their own (known father that doesn't want child) I don't see anything wrong with it. Now, that's it's a man wanting to do this it feels like he is basically forcing the woman to be a mother. We chose to let the other person decide what to do with them if one of us died, and to donate them to science if we got divorced (basically the same as destroying them, although that was also an option). I've heard of clinics that aren't so specific with their contracts, so maybe this is the case here? They signed a form stating that both parties' consent was necessary to bring the embryos to term and now he wants that voided. So I think he's SOL. He also says "When we create embryos for the purpose of life, should we not define them as life, rather than as property?"
