This is hands down the softest rug I have ever felt.

I got this one from Rugs USA for our nursery thinking if it wasn't great and/or she trashes it at least it was cheap for wool: https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-morse-awning-stripes/gray/200MTNR01B-508.html

So far I'm really impressed with it. It's comparable to the crate and barrel wool rug we have in our family room, but for 1/3 the price. It did shed a little at first, but that's to be expected with wool generally and it wasn't any worse than any other wool rug I've purchased (we live in northern VT wool rugs are life in the middle of the winter). Wool in general will be less soft to the touch than an acrylic material (but still softer than most other natural materials), but in my experience it's thicker/warmer/cushier. More of a dig your toes in kind of feeling that makes me at least really happy.

We just moved and got a few rugs from Ikea and I was surprised by how soft they are! Really nice on the bare feet.

i started with a wool rug for our daughters nursery. Wool tends to itch my skin, but I thought, well, its "natural", it should be ok for baby. That thing shed wool like a scared sheep. Months and months, despite constant vacuuming. I switched to a shag Savafieh rug from amazon ( think rugs USA and wayfair also sell them). Its very very soft, although becaus the pile is so high, dirt defintley gets trapped within the fibers and settles at the bottom. I'm viewing it as something that will probably get tossed in a few years. Stains wipe up though since its polypropylene or whatever it's called.

I got this shag rug for my boys' room from Wayfair.

https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/zipcode-design-starr-hill-navy-area-rug-zpcd3669.html

I love it! It is so soft, they love playing and rolling around on it. My toddler even slept on it for 6 months when we transitioned out of the crib (he was stubborn and didn't want to sleep in his new bed...).

I'm normally not a fan of shag rugs but I wanted something thick and soft for their room so I thought I would give it a try.

Anyone have favorite sources for soft nursery rugs? I shop on RugsUSA a lot but havent really found many that are super soft. What are the softest materials for playing/crawling?
