My DH liked the Baby Bjorn Air, then had his own Ergo (traditional). It was nice not to have to adjust the carrier since we each had our own (although on the rare occasion she goes to daycare and someone different picks up/drops off , we still have to adjust a carrier).

Thanks for the responses and suggestions everyone! I'm thinking that picking up a used ergo or beco is probably my best bet. It's not just that he would prefer something in gender neutral colors, it's that he wants something as unobtrusive and simple as possible--no prints, no bells and whistles. I think he's more likely to babywear on hikes, but we also walk every day.

@jedeve: high five! Onya needs more love. It's got one of the widest seats, it's super sturdy, and comfy/ergonomic. I used to use it to put LO to sleep for naps! My chunky baby started outgrowing the ergo by 6 or 7 months.

My dh loves our Onya. I think it's best for bigger/taller/older kids. It's designed for hiking, so it's a little bigger than something like an ergo. We both think it's way better than ergo. I wear my one year old in it often!

Do you just want him to babywear for hikes? We have a Deuter hiking baby-wearing backpack and DH loves it (he went through a phase where he insisted on carrying DS in it for normal walks instead of the stroller). I'm really short so I prefer my Lillebaby, but the Deuter is pretty comfortable and had a little backpack area for snacks/diapers/whatever you bring on hikes.

Does your SO babywear? If so what do they use?

I babywear my 3 month old every day. We've used a moby, mei tai, woven wrap, ring sling, and tula. She currently likes being in the ring sling, mei tai, and tula. Problem is, my husband doesn't want to use any sort of wrap or mei tai, doesn't find the ring sling comfortable, and won't wear my purple tula.

He'd like to try babywearing. And I'd like him to babywear so I'm not the only one carrying the kiddo on hikes. I don't want to spend a ton, since he may very well not be a huge fan. But I may just end up getting a more neutral tula and selling my plum posy.

Any recommendations?
