We can't say "gentle" around our dogs because then they think they are getting a treat and get super excited! hahahah we trained them with "gentle" to take a treat very softly out of our hands. Instead we say "soft" or "nice" when she pets the dogs. Although I will still catch her with a wad of dog fur balled in her hand wanking......thankfully we have awesome dogs as well!

I am constantly saying "gentle" and "soft touches" to DD. We have two cats and she is completely in love with them. When she is too rough it is always because she wants to hold them and cuddle, but still obviously a problem.

I say gentle too. DD surprisingly has been very good with our dog; pets her the same way we do. But she did pulled on her tail once. We told her firmly no and that it hurts doggie; she hasn't done it since so fingers crossed!

Mostly the dog annoys her more rather than the other way; she got really good at saying "no no!" and "off!" haha!

LOL yes! I always said "Gentle" to our LO. Its better now but still at 3 yrs old I still need to remind her to be careful. She doesn't know her strength and that she can hurt them. We have 2 bigger dogs and then two little ones. Trying to teach her to be gentle to all of them no matter the size. Thank goodness for patient and well behaved dogs indeed.

Sigh, our 13 month old LOVES our pup (small peek-a-poo) and LOVES to "pet" her. Now we have the most gentle and kind (and patient) dog there is. She's so good with the girls and just lets them pull on her and then when she's had enough she runs away and hides. I don't know how many times a day I say "soft touches" and remove her hand but all I can say is thank goodness our dog love the girls! anyone else say "soft touches" more times than they can count! ha
