@Cole: well, no matter what you'll have a baby before too long so yaaaaay for that! I'm trying to be patient. And you're right, 1cm isn't bad...I didn't get that far until 40 weeks or so last time. If I hadn't convinced myself I was in labor this morning it would probably be easier to stay content! ;)

@tororojo: They will, the plan is to do that Monday. My favorite midwives are on call starting late Saturday night so I figure I will try all the tricks in the book starting Saturday!

And at least in my mind being at a one when you are still two weeks from your due date sounds pretty good! Hopefully the contractions will go away for awhile but in the meantime if they can get you to an even more favorable spot at least it week make an induction easier!

@Cole: will they strip your membranes and try to get things moving that way?

@hellocupcake: I'm resigning myself to a second induction. Still at 1cm and I need to quit being obsessed w/going into labor!

@mauxie: wow! Cool that you drove yourself to the hospital in labor...I drove to my induction but that's slightly different!

@Vegmama: thanks! I think the shooting cervical pain is most misleading of all. I keep expecting a head to pop out

All these stories of contractions starting and then stopping are so disheartening! Our bodies shouldn't be so confusing.

@hellocupcake: Same! I did this with my second and third pregnancy, you don't always "just know!" I'd call each time, they'd look over my contraction patterns over the phone, listen to me contract, tell me to come in, acknowledge the contractions and patterns, and I tell you what the contractions never stopped for me they just didn't do a whole lot so home we'd go. When it was time my Husband was rolling his eyes saying here we go again, I can't blame him! ;)

I was induced with my second, and had my third on my own 5 days early. Good luck :)

@tororojo: Here are my notes from that week:

*MY HIPS!!! I thought they hurt before. Since baby has dropped, my hips are getting so loose to accommodate his/her head. Putting my knees together (when I’m sleeping, sitting, getting up, driving, etc.) is terrible. I kind of feel like I’m smashing the baby! BUT, I think it’s all totally normal.

*Acid reflux is back with a vengeance. After every meal. In the middle of the night. First thing in the morning. I’ve heard that it’ll go away as soon as the baby is born, which is really great. I cannot wait!

*This post is super late (I was 39 weeks on Tuesday), but I wanted to share that I thought last night was it! I woke up around 2:00 with really intense contractions. They lasted a while, but then tapered off to nothing. I got pretty excited …

*Related: I am having lots & lots of contractions, a ton of pressure, and shooting pains in my cervical area. Midwife things I’m likely dilating a bit … Once the baby is ready, all of these things will form a pattern, and we’ll be all set. I might have my first internal check at my 40 week appointment.

Haha! I was also induced with my first so I wasn't sure what "real" labor was like. I was just so very uncomfortable at the end and my back was constantly aching that even when I was in labor, I thought it was just the usual 3rd-tri pregnancy pain. LOL. I showed up for my 38 week appt at noon, doc checked me and told me to go to the hospital (about 10 mins away). So, I drive myself over to L&D at 6cm and gave birth ~4 hours later.

I had tons of false labor the last couple weeks of pregnancy. At one point they even had me come into the hospital because they thought it sounded real (painful contractions for over 2 hours, less than 5 minutes apart). But it turned out that I had a TON of fluid which was keeping DS from engaging. My body kept trying to go into labor and stalling out.

I went to L&D three times thinking "this has to be it!" Nope. Being induced a second time :/ womp womp. I suck at labor.

@bushelandapeck: whenever I do finally go into labor I think I will be in denial for a long time because at this point I have thought it was the real deal on multiple occasions only to have it die down. At this point I really don't care when she comes as long as it's before they insist I am induced.

Yes, I had that problem! It was prodromal labor but sometimes it seemed so real - uncomfortable contractions that hurt my lower back, mucus plug lost, contractions every 2 minutes for an hour that would then stop, etc. Ended up lasting till my induction at 39+1 though. I was so ready for it to be over. It feels like those last days are weeks long, there is an end in sight very soon!! Good luck :goodluck:

@MrsMccarthy: I am afraid of driving myself completely crazy if this continues for 2 more weeks!

@Vegmama: 37.5 weeks, so to the safe point! I have nothing timeable going on, sadly. What signs did you have the week before?

@bushelandapeck: I read your labor post and am afraid I won't know either! I feel less prepared now than the first time, I think because we will have to pass DD off before heading to the hospital so I need plenty of notice!

@Cole: @tororojo: I was in actual labor for a whole day and didn't know it! This was my second baby and everyone kept telling me I would know for sure, but it just wasn't the case.

@tororojo: Are you 38 weeks or 35 weeks? 38 would be safe, as full term is 37 weeks. With my labor, I just knew once if started (39 weeks), but I had major labor signs for a week or so before. I am sure you are close!! You want to look for patterns. No pattern, no labor. 4+ contractions in an hour could indicate something. Best wishes to you!!!!

Ugh I remember that tail end being so hard. I went insane around 39 weeks. Statistically most babies come within a few days of their due date so this time I plan to remember that. I went 5 days over with my son. I though everything was labor but then it would slow.

@Cole: ugh, being overdue is the worst! It's like a special, angsty club you didn't want to be a part of. I hope you go soon! And me too! ;)

@photojane: wow, you were walking around at 5cm? Impressive! I was maaaybe a 1 when I was induced and it took forever and they had to use every trick in the book. So that's a good point, maybe I'll at least be more prepared if I do end up with an induction!

I had so many BH and real contractions in the week leading up to Sadie's due date. I never did go into labor on my own, but those contractions paid off... I was already almost 5cm when I went in for my induction! Maybe your contractions will have some positive side effects too!

I unfortunately have been going through this for weeks now and an currently 4 days past my due date. The good news is it has had a favorable effect on my cervix but it gets old sometimes.

The other good news is that since mine started at least two other people have posted threads saying they are having the same thing and they were both in actual early labor. I have half a mind to start one of my own just in case that's the catalyst!

Fingers crossed your appointment brings you got news!

This feels like a dumb problem to have with a second pregnancy, but last time I was induced, never had a contraction on my own, never dilated and this time I have so much more action going on! Pressure, BH, maybe even some actual contractions where my lower back hurts and stomach gets hard. I have been awake since 4am because every twinge makes me wonder if labor is beginning (2 weeks early)- this can't be healthy! Thankful for an OB appt in a few hours though, maybe he can talk some sense into me. Or tell me I'm ready to push... ;) Did anyone else have this problem? This could be a long couple of weeks!
