I’d ditch the oatmeal and switch to fruit, veg and meat. And if she’s still not ok then she just might not be ready for solids yet.

We never gave oatmeal or cereal at that age. Have you tried fruit and veggie purées instead? Oatmeal has a lot of fiber!

@LadyDi: Once a day, when we eat dinner, and only a couple of tablespoons until she starts turning her head to refuse it. I haven't cut any other feedings.

I do wonder if this is a leap with bad timing - I'll research that. Thanks!

How often and how much oatmeal are you giving? I would just offer once/day after she’s nursed or has a bottle. And just a small amount. Oatmeal is less caloric than breast milk so if she’s eating too much she could be hungry. Of course it could also be a coincidence and just be a growth spurt or leap. If that doesn’t help I would just move on to a puree.

DD is 6 mo. Just started oatmeal (very thinned out with breastmilk).

Sleeps been off ever since - short naps, more wake periods at night (she was averaging 1 before this, sometimes none). Her tummy is gurgling and she seems uncomfortable. Stools are dark and some diarrhea.

Is this normal stuff? Older DD took to solids like a champ, no issues that I remember.I keep thinking it's probably her system adjusting to a new food.

I'm not sure what to do to help her feel better! I've been giving tummy rubs and helping her kick her legs so she's getting things moving. I have offered gas drops a few times. She seems most comfortable when upright.

Should I be avoiding oatmeal and moving on to a puree?

Help a tired mama out!
