@butterbean: Pouches are purees in plastic pouches in the baby aisle. We like them for the convenience factor where we can just open one up and feed him. I made my own purees for awhile, but he took to these better.

@butterbean: i started this thread awhile ago on 6 month old sleep....so know you are not alone and it is all normal!! we eventually sleep trained at 6.5 months and are down to 1 or sometimes 2 wake ups to nurse.

I agree with the above posters. 6 months is a time of huge changes for an infant. We sleep trained at this age, so with all of the changes, he figured out how to sleep.

I was actually about to comment that at 10 months, an 8oz bottle plus a pouch may be what's helping my LO sleep almost 12 hours the past week or so.

Yeah I think 6 months is just a crappy sleep time. I would doubt that it's related to the cereal. I will say my LO sometimes has a tough night the first time she tries a new food which I'm guessing is because her tummy is adjusting but cereal is so bland I wouldn't expect that to be an issue.

agree that it could be a number of things....the first few nights of solids (mainly just oatmeal cereal) really affected her sleep so we started doing it in the morning. but there is a growth spurt at 6 months as well.

It could be a lot of things. I think at that age sleep may go down hill a bit as they learn more movement (rolling, crawling, sitting).

so we started rice cereal for our 6 month old son on Sunday night and he seems to like it and doesn't have any reactions to the rice cereal...before solids, he would only get up twice during the night but now, he gets up at least 3 times...

i really thought we were making progress with his nighttime sleep and feedings but now i feel like we've went backwards...is it because of the cereal? a growth spurt? or is this one of those curveballs that babies like to throw at us?

i was enjoying the extra sleep that i got during the night (even if it meant like a couple of hours :)...
