My LO is almost 10 months and still isn't great with table foods. She loves purees, but only has a handful of "real" foods she'll eat. Puffs, Mum Mums, and bananas are always hits, and some days she'll eat broccoli, hamburgers, pears, plums, and little pasta shapes. Other days she'll just play with the food and not eat any.

We've had her at hotels several times. White noise is key, as is having a book or something on your phone for when you're sitting in the dark after LO goes to bed at 7:30 :) Make sure to lay out your pjs, toothbrush, etc. before LO goes to sleep, otherwise it's a pain to try to do quietly.

She started sitting really well right around 7 months.

Your LO sounds like he's doing great. Enjoy your trip!

@paigeface: I would try some finger foods that are easier to pick up than eggs, which are pretty slippery. I really like Cheerios-type cereal as a first option just for motor skills (I think the baby puffs tend to be pretty sugary or covered in weird powders). I also did little pieces of fruit, steamed green beans/ asparagus, and cut up chicken.

My little one is also 8 months, so I'm no expert. :)

We started finger foods on the earlier side, because she seemed so ready. But it still took 2 or 3 weeks before she got much of anything in her mouth. She now eats most of what we eat, within reason, but still mostly veggies and fruit with the occasional bit of meat. She still examines everything she eats and rubs it between her fingers to explore the texture.

I've taken her on two trips this month, one with my husband to the beach for 2 nights, one with my mom to California to see my grandparents for 3 nights. My best advice is to follow baby's cues and schedule, don't worry about when he sleeps, just let him sleep when he can. Being toys, get a space set up for him first thing, make sure there's nothing on the floor he can eat, etc.

My little one hates sitting. She's perfectly capable, but hasn't figured out how to get down without toppling over. She's crawling and pulling up, and sits fine in her high chair, so I'm not worried.

Happy hump day everyone and happy almost Mother's Day to you all!
Lots of questions today so forgive this first time mama!

LO is 8 months and we give him 5- 6oz bottles a day and 3 meals 1 fruit in the morning and veggies/fruits for lunch and dinner (we by Plum organics and Happy Baby pouches and he loves them!) Does this sound like a correct amount for his age? We tried a little finger foods over the weekend (scrambled eggs) and he just played in them and didn't get any to his mouth. He still hates anything with texture. When did your little ones start liking the texture and finger foods?

Also, we are going to a hotel for two nights this weekend for Mother's Day and are bringing him for the first time. It's a staycation in Florida where we live so we aren't too far from home. What are some tips for at the hotel? We will be renting a air-conditioned cabana at the pool where I am hoping he can take a nap or two. Bedtime will be a little tricky considering it's at 7:30pm and my husband and I will still want to be up. Grandma and Grandpa are coming on the trip as well so we will have some help!

P.S. When did your LO start fully sitting up on their own? He's close but always topples over after a few seconds.
