Dh just spent ~ one week out of town, and I was sooooo bored after L went to bed at 7! I even tried keeping her up a little later to entertain me, but she was melting down quickly :(

Since it was just a week I just caught up on my shows, ate crap, and played games on my phone. If it was a more permanent situation where he was gone often, I'd have to pick up an evening hobby or something! I was so glad when he came back home and I had someone to talk to again!

Every week! Mon-Thurs (well he gets home around 9 on Thurs). Lately right after I put her down, I work out. Then I eat dinner, wash dishes, fold laundry (start when we first get home), pack lunch for the next day, watch TV, and then go to bed. I am usually in bed by 930 since I get up at 515 or 545 every day.

Sleep!!!!!! DS doesn't STTN so when he's out, I prep his bottles for tomorrow and pack my pumping bag then jump into bed bc I have probably 30-45 minutes before he wakes up. Then it's a never ending cycle of getting up and out of bed every hour or so for the remainder of the evening. ugh

I have no advice, but I certainly understand. I agree with PP's that having someone over to have a glass of wine and watch a movie with makes such a difference.

Yes, solo parenting is lonely and boring. DH works till 10:30 or 11 PM Wednesday - Sunday. I exercise if I haven't gotten in a walk earlier in the day after LO goes to bed. Then I lose all motivation to do anything and hang out on the couch.

I'm not usually bored, but it does happen. Sometimes I really want to leave the house for something or go to the gym, but can't. That's a bummer!

I solo parent quite a bit. Dh works nights and LO and I have been out of town without him as well. Aside from school, I clean, read, paint my nails (NEVER could do this with LO!), HB/fb/whatever, put away laundry, sometimes cook, and lately... I have a glass of wine!!! It's been a stressful couple of months, what can I say? Yeah, lately I've been all about the relaxing part. Except this week, I've been working on something for a family reunion coming up.

Eta and my LO is 20m!

It's LO and I alone at least 2 nights a week. I try to get out and do an errand at least one of those nights when she's still awake, or at least take her out for a walk. Once she goes to bed around 10:30/11pm, I get bottles ready for the next day and then catch a tv show or just hit the hay. I get so exhausted by the 3rd night alone. Props to the mamas who solo parent even more or are single moms!

@JennyD: A glass of wine is always a little entertaining. Also, you could take the baby for a walk before bedtime!

@JennyD: I feel like I solo spouse. (No kids... yet!) My DH works nights at least 3/4 times a week. In addition to the activities you mentioned, I also find that I eat more. Ugh. I've gain a ridiculous amount of weight since he started working nights. Its no fair to anyone involved. I can't imagine how it is to be stuck at home every night because of a sleeping baby. I welcome the opportunity, but I certainly enjoy all my after work activities that I plan for myself. If only I could stop eating when I get home...

@Seattlemom: that's a good idea. Like a fool I moved to the burbs, a bit far from friends or much fun. But I do need to just try harder to entertain myself.

Have any childless friends that would want to come over for a glass of wine after your LO goes to sleep? Or anyone that would hang at your house for an hour or two after bedtime so you could go to the bookshop, coffeeshop or run a few errands? Sometimes its nice to just go out of the house on your own, even if just for a little bit.

@Emsmems: ha! I remember those days. Mine is two now, so way more cleaning/chores happen while she's up. She even put the silverware away today for me!

I think it's tough cuz it's so hard to do anything after work other than dinner, bath and bed, so I feel like we're stuck at home every night.

My hubby works 48 hour shifts so I am alone with DS those 2 days. But he is 4 months and going through a sleep regression, so I'm exhausted and live for bedtime so I can do whatever I didn't get done that day (dishes, laundry, or whatever... Sometimes I just leave it all and don't care) and then go to bed to get some sleep before DS wakes for the 1st of MANY wake ups. So I'm no help. How old is your LO?

But I am watching the Bachelorette and hellobee-ing, so I guess I also do the same as you ;)

Anyone else often a solo parent? My husband works out of town every second week, and after LO goes to bed, it's so boring. Nothing to do but clean, watch tv and HB. What does everyone else do?

Bored bored bored bored bored bored... First world problems....
