@SleepyMonkey: @oliviaoblivia: @avivoca: yeah, I'll definitely have DH pick it up coming home from work if I need it. I don't have fever, so I think that's why the OB wants to be conservative. I do feel a little better after the painkillers and nonstop nursing. We'll see - breast pain is no joke!

Thanks for the tips - I broke out the coloring book and he has free reign of my dresser and clothes, so he's actually having quite a fun morning so far :)

@keepcalmcarrie: Could you have them call in the antibiotic and have your husband pick it up on the way home?

Yikes! I'd just get the antibiotic, leaving the house will suck, but you'll feel immensely better. Do you have a drive through pharmacy nearby?

Oh man that sounds tough. It sounds like mastitis to me. Maybe your dh can pick it up on his way home. We do screen time. ..movies and Disney junior on demand if we need to entertain the toddler. Unfortunately it only keeps her entertained for 30 minutes to an hour. She just wants to run around so we let her run around the house or up and down the hall...jump on the bed. We whip out some coloring books....bake something together and eat it...tv again...winter days are soooo long.

@regberadaisy: @hilsy85: @Mrs. Champagne: I called my OB and she said to give it 24 hours (so we're coming up on that late this afternoon) because it often doesn't require antibiotics if you manage it proactively with heat, massage, super frequent nursing etc.

I would have pushed harder for an antibiotic, except that would mean leaving the house to go get it - which would be very appealing any other time, but it's so frigid and the thought of getting the kids bundled to go out is exhausting right now!

I'll definitely call back if I still feel like this in the afternoon though. Thank you!!

Oh feel better :(

Trip to the doctor will get you out of the house and get you some antibiotics?

Midday bath for your toddler? Icecream in the bath? Lots of TV!

Hugs. Hard having no one around, for sure.

If it is mastitis, you will feel so much better if you can get on antibiotics!!

Otherwise, I would just do what you're doing--unlimited screen time, and maybe letting the toddler do something "forbidden" if they get unruly--like emptying out a dresser full of clothes or something. I hope you feel better!

Aw I'm sorry! I know it seems impossible but you will get through it!

If you think you have mastitis you need to see your OB for antibiotic!

How do you do it?

I SAH, and we live in a new town where we don't know anyone or have family nearby. DH absolutely has to be at work today for a huge meeting. I have a 5 week old and a 23 month old, who's already going a little bit stir crazy - we've been almost endlessly inside avoiding germs because of the newborn and avoiding frostbite because DUDE it's 4 degrees outside.

Anyway, I have mastitis, thrush, or something... a super painful breast, chills, just feeling like I have the flu. I'm trying to nurse through it and just taking the Rx ibuprofen I have leftover from L&D. I've sequestered all of us in my bedroom with PBS and Peppa Pig on the DVR, lots of toys and books for the toddler, and cereal, water, and coffee for me (newborn was also up every 2 hours overnight, which I guess is good for draining the breast but OMG can a person die from sleep deprivation?)

Any tips for lasting the day? I'm worried :(
