@Andrea: @autumnlove: @Mrs. Confetti: @BabyBoecksMom: @MrsMccarthy: @lamariniere:@rachiecakes: @Rubies:

Thank you all for your support and kind words. It was helpful to know that some of you had experienced the same thing and lived to tell about it! :) Somehow we got through and I am feeling better now... still not 100% but a lot better. I haven't gotten sick in 24 hrs and managed to get to work today. I didn't end up calling anyone.... I tried getting her to watch tv but she wasn't into it. I ended up putting my mattress on the ground and put her superyard around it. She was super whiney and clingy and it was the longest day of my life, but we made it. Today I took her to daycare but she was still super clingy/whiney and didn't seem herself (despite no GI symptoms since Thurs)... so the babysitter is picking her up from daycare and taking her to the doctor. She has diaper rash, a runny nose, and a new tooth, so just want to make sure she's ok (and doesn't also have an ear infection or something). I'm also hoping maybe they can give her a new cream for the rash or something. Nystatin isn't working.

I had a similar situation at the beginning of this pregnancy with my toddler. I just let him watch a ton of videos while I was on the couch or in bed.

Oh honey no advice here but I want to send you huge hugs and healing vibes. I just can't even imagine how rough this must be. I hope it passes and you get some help soon. If you are still nursing keep at it. Breast milk will have antibodies that keep our daughter from getting quite as sick as you.

I'm SO sorry! This happened to us when DD was 3 no the old. I ended up having to have my sister take my daughter. There was less chance of her catching it since it had been over 24 hours since DD had symptoms. I'm SO glad I did because I got much worse than DD and there was no way I could give her the attention she needed.

If you have a friend that is willing, I would really suggest asking them to take her. I hope you get over it really soon!

I had this happen to me. It was terrible. I set up camp on our guest room floor with the mattress on the ground and the TV set up. Let C watch an insane amount of television, basically in a padded room so that I could lay and rest and dash to the bathroom when need be (very very quickly). We were both barely eating, which helped cuz I didn't have to work to hard to feed us, and I napped when he napped.

I did eventually call in a sitter, payed her well and next time she came a week later (after getting and surviving the same bug), I gave her a bonus via starbucks gift card, cuz I felt so guilty for getting her sick.

Lucky for us, it was a quick 24 hour bug (for me at least, C took a little longer to rebound). Quick and dirty. I truly hope you feel better ASAP and wish you all the luck in the world.

Ugh, the stomach flu is the worst! Normally, I would just say power through it, but that body ache/shivering feeling sucks. I would contact your sitter and leave it up to her. Maybe she wouldn't mind helping or maybe she would decline anyway. I hope you all feel better soon! Eeek!

@Rubies: maybe. Two of my best friends are out of town right now. I have one good friend who is home and could ask her but she has a LO... Oh and she's pregnant, so that's out. So it would have to be a less close friend. What if I offer my sitter double (hazard) pay??

I had my wisdom teeth out last month and was pretty much non-functioning.
There were a couple days I had a sitter entertain DS downstairs while I rested on meds. Other days I would lie on the couch with DS and do puzzles on the iPad. It was more TV & iPad than I would normally allow but I couldn't do much.

Hope you feel better soon!

My LO and I have the stomach flu and my husband is in the hospital (for an unrelated reason). My family lives across the country and his is unable to help right now. Any tips for getting through? My LO seems ok after vomiting once (although much crankier than usual), but I am super achy and can't stop shivering. Not sure how I will take care of her tomorrow. Ugh! I want my mommy! Maybe I should call a friend but I'd hate to expose anyone else. Any tips for getting over a stomach bug or for taking care of LO in this situation?
