Yep I agree, temp charting is the way to go. Checking cervical fluid or using OPKs can tell you when you are/are about to O, temping will tell you when you already O'ed (but doing so consistently will give you a pattern so you can predict it after a couple of months).

The "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" book is a great resource!

I agree with the PPs that you need to chart your temperature to verify if and when you have ovulated. I found the Fertility Friend website to be really helpful when I was charting my cycle.
I hope this is your month though, good luck!

You need to either chart or start using OPK's to verify exactlly when you O.

I think the only way to know for sure if you ovulated is by charting (taking your basal body temperature every morning). Then you can see when your temperature rises, indicating ovulation has occurred.

I have a 3 year old daughter. my husband and I have wanted another baby but I had a MC last April and I'm waiting to test to see if this will be our month. If not I'm ok with that. I'm having trouble trying to understand how to know for a fact when you have ovulated and how to calculate how many dpo I am. I'm pretty sure I o'd the 31 to the 3 of Oct. We did not prevent the 31st and then on the 2nd. Had some cramping on the 5th. I just want to know how to better my chances of conceiving I just basically guess lol and I'm not a fan of taking meds especially if there's a good chance I could be preggers. We didn't have to they with our daughter and so I'm new to all of this.
