DS is almost 6 months and since starting daycare a few weeks ago, he now eats 2 solid meals. He was getting jealous of the other kids! He also really took well to solid meals (purees). But they are small meals - one meal is a serving of rice cereal, one meal is a jar of fruit (2 oz) and the third meal is just a few tbsp of veggies before his night bath. He hasn't lowered his milk intake at this point.

6 mos = 1 mean, 7 mos = 2 meals, 8 mos = 3 meals a day
sippy cup around 6 mos, but he really got a hang of it around late 7 mos
You don't reduce the milk intake since solids are just for fun at this stage and not for nutrition.

At 7 months we took her to 2 meals a day. We've been offerning the sippy cup since we started solids. At every meal and periodically throughout the day. At just shy of 8 months I'm getting ready to ramp it up to a 3rd meal.

As for nursing sessions, I take my cues from her, she's dropped down to 4 or 5 sessions a day, I suspect we'll soon be down to 3 or 4. Most indications from my reading are that by 1 year she will be nursing 2-3 times a day (which is good, because I'll be back at work--WAH!!)

LO is 6 months. I offer solids three times a day, but between all of those meals she eats what would be considered a normal amount for one meal. She still nurses quite a bit. I think we're about to start the sippy cup as well. Hopefully more water will help with constipation.

We started giving our DS a second meal at 7 months. We also have been giving him a sippy cup with water since we started solids. He usually only gets it during meals. As for nursing, I still bf on demand so he hasn't really cut out any nursing sessions. He nurses about 5 times a day. I am not sure if we are "doing it right" but that's how solids have worked for us do far. Sometime after he turns 8months we will probably start a third meal, but I also want him to continue to get plenty of milk.

When did you up your baby to more than one solid food meal per day? Also, when did you introduce a sippy cup with meals? When did you start reducing bottle / breastfeeding sessions, and how did you know it was time to do that?

Our daughter is 7 months now, and she's loving her solids these days, so I think it might be time to take steps towards more meals, sippy cup, etc., but I have no idea what I'm "supposed" to be doing...
