She hasn't gotten an immunization for it yet. Our pediatrician follows the CDC schedule, so that's for a year old I think. My youngest sister had it when she was an infant and so my mom just kinda said 'oh well' when I said baby might get it and didn't think it was a big deal.
Our neighbor was really nice to come over and tell us though. At least if baby does show any symptoms we'll know what it might be instead of being surprised.

Apparently I had the Chicken Pox as a baby. I had about 3 spots on my head and that was it. Fingers crossed for you!

I had shingles when RJ was about 6 months old. SO incredibly painful. The craziest thing is that the pain was under my arm so I thought it was a clogged duct so I didn't get diagnosed until several days in (I'd never had shingles before... never knew if you've had chicken pox, it can appear at any time!) and I had to go on some crazy anti-virals to get rid of it. The nerve pain continued for a while as well. Valtrex, fyi...

RJ had the chicken pox vaccine by then and he was also nursing... he didn't catch anything from me. I was careful to keep my rash away from him (I'd cover it with a huge bandage while I was nursing) but none of my sores were open anyway.

Scary stuff!!!

This is why I never hold babies!! That, and a fear of dropping them.

Boo indeed. I will have my fingers crossed for your LO. That would not be fun. Has she had the vaccine? I can't remember at what age they get that ...

OMG! Poor thing! Hopefully she didn't catch it. I don't know anyone who had chicken pox as an infant - I can imagine how stressful it could be for the parents!

This weekend a neighbor held baby, today she found out she has shingles and has a small shingle on her wrist so baby may have been exposed. LO has a cold now too so her immune system probably is not 100%.

Boooo.......The only good thing is she has her 9 month check up scheduled in 2 weeks so she should be showing symptoms by then if she did get it. Hopefully she doesn't get it though.

Anyone dealt with chicken pox in an infant?
