@Sweet T: That is cold sometimes! I was shivering with chattering teeth at 69 degrees in Hawaii right before we moved to Virginia in January. I was so worried I would die of exposure if I couldn't even handle 69 degrees with a blanket and sweatshirt.
I survived though. :)

hahaha! I'm from Georgia. I remember several occasions where we were out of school because the forecast predicted snow. Any sign that it might stick and we got out of school. It was always very exciting! :)

@pastemoo: It's still in the 80s in HI and I've seen so many people in hoodies!

hahaha! yes! i'm a MA girl & quite used to the snow. one of my BFFs moved back from FL recently & last winter proved traumatic =P

it's a requirement that one of us have an AWD vehicle because life doesn't stop for 4 months out of the year when it could snow. i have a soft spot for power outages and snow storms though. there is something about being snowed in that reminds you to slow down & enjoy snuggling up with someone you love =) there's always a babyboom 9 months after big snow storms =D

It's so funny, but it's so true that your body adjusts to the temperature. I grew up in a colder state, and we'd go out in shorts and T-shirts when it was low-60s. I wore skirts all the time in the snow in college. But now that I live in a southern state, I was looking for my slippers and sweatshirt the other day when I woke up and it was 71 degrees inside my house!

my BIL lives in Miami, and came up a few years back in November to visit. keep in mind - he was born and raised in Rhode Island! he acted like it was the Ice Ages up here..and it was actually quite warm for November, I think 50s!

that said, I live in RI and my cousin lives in northern NH (think within an hour of Canada). she thinks its a riot when we get "snowstorms" here and they close schools, etc, when they are so used to feet of snow at a time being the norm.

Haha, when I spent a semester in Italy I clearly remember Romans walking around in giant puffy coats when it was 60-some degrees. I haven't encountered that in TN yet, but I'll give it some time :)

@mrbee: DC-area snow was the worst! Especially the hype. My freshman year of college we got one legit snowstorm, maybe a foot or so, and the city was paralyzed. The weather guy actually went outside, stuck a ruler in the snow, started calling it "Storm Stick 2000" or something ridiculous, and kept cutting to it throughout the broadcast.

Yeah...I am a Houston native and the threat of snow/ice shuts everything down.

But then again, I think Northerners are funny in the summer when they are complaining about the heat!

We have that issue in Florida. Anytime it drops below 75, people break out their fleece and complain CONSTANTLY that they live in Florida so shouldn't have to suffer through a whole 2 weeks of 50-degree weather.

@chopsuey119: We had a ton of ice by us. I couldn't get out of the condo parking garage. It was super nice getting those extra days off work. Luckily we live in the city so we walked up to restaurants for lunch to get out of the house a little bit. Cabin fever was starting to set in by day 3.

You would probably get a good laugh around me. I'm a Florida girl, and first of all I get migraines if my head gets a little bit cold so I wear a hat if it gets below 70, and I'm the girl in a big coat when everyone else is still in light sweaters. I hate being cold!

I was born and raised in OK, but moved to TX because of my job. OK and TX are both Southern states that border each, but the reaction to weather is completely night and day. In OK, lots of businesses still remain open despite heavy snow or ice. Minor rain storms or not bright and sunny out in TX has all the roads blocked due to people forgetting how to drive and accidents galore!

@mrs. wagon: they have salt here but no sand!!! And it's the sand that gives you traction. And let me tell you these people have no clue how to drive in snow. I've often considered giving a seminar on why it is important to accelerate up a hill when the road is snowy!! At least most people just stay home when it snows here : )

@MamaMoose: @mrbee: hehe I'm one of those Northerners too! I remember hearing that 1 inch of snow can close down an entire town down south because they don't have plows or salt. Up here in MA we can have a foot of snow and NOTHING shuts down. I think last year the city ran low on salt and a lot of things shut down until they could get more trucked in from other parts of the state... there was a big uproar. Haha.

I'm a transplant from MA to Nashville, TN. And sometimes the way southerns react to the weather just cracks me up. It's currently 66 degrees and sunny in Nashville. I'm waiting at my doctor's office and a woman just came in with her baby completely covered in a thick fleece cover in the car seat. I know it's cooling off but I feel like that baby must be boiling in there!!!
