@Pirouette: I like it because it dims and the music gets quieter over time. You can also set it at a lower sound volume, which is nice.

@raintreebee: that's the other one i was looking at! i was a little worried about the lights on the projector being too bright - my LO loves to climb the crib so i feel like she'd burn her eyes out :( do you find it super bright? maybe if you only use it for naps, you wouldn't notice. and is it loud for soothing?

@blackbird: wow, that's an awesome price! and sounds like a great investment! so you can just do the music only and it lasts longer right? and that's something i assume you can set ahead of time?

@jetsa: haha sorry if posting this cost you $ :silly:

We just have the rainforest one (i bought it used at a garage sale for $15--people are ALWAYS selling them!) and E is 16 months and STILL loves that damn thing. She would turn it on in the middle of the night and listen to the music. And then keep turning it on when it would turn off. And then eventually she would fall asleep. We have a soother and a NICU approved mirror in her crib and both really make her happy without necessarily distracting her from bedtime.

We have a baby einstein soother that comes with a remote and is on longer than five minutes. I use it to calm him down before naps, but maybe I should turn it on in the MOTN!

@ShootingStar: thanks! does it come with a remote to turn it back on? i can't tell from the reviews. it looks great, but 5 min is definitely not long enough!

@bushelandapeck: ANYTHING that helps with MOTN wakings sounds amazing haha. thanks :)

We have one like this but with ocean creatures. DS is 23 months and still turns it on before he falls asleep and when he wakes up. I think it really helped with the MOTN wakings...

We have one of those soothers that attaches to the side of the crib. DS likes to look at it, but my biggest complaint is that when you do the motion + sound, it only lasts for 5 minutes. I think this is the one we have - http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/fisher-price-reg-rain-forest-trade-waterfall-peek-a-boo-soother-trade/1015138378?Keyword=crib+soother

we're about to get rid of our mobile - LO woke up for the day this morning by standing up in the crib, holding onto the mobile base with one hand and using the other hand to grab at the animals while babbling to them. all very cute, except she's 7 months old and doesn't have great balance so we had to run in and save her before she face planted into the crib bars. she was grinning from ear to ear all proud of herself, but obviously this could be dangerous.

twice in the past week, she has been wide awake in the middle of the night (she'd never ever done this before so i'm hoping this is a short phase). I was looking at the soothers you can attach to the crib, and thought that might be good to lull her back to sleep, but also "fun" enough for when she wakes up before i want to wake up, so she has someone to babble to haha.

SO, does anyone have one they recommend? obviously i want one that can be set to very soft setting (or becomes softer as it goes). Or if you have any other type of crib toy you recommend, i'm all ears!
