I'm not sure ours were "fake" but the ones I received from Amazon were not the same quality as the one I purchased from BRU. </p> <p>Here's the story: We purchased our first one from BRU - and then the squeaker broke (our fault) and my son loved the silly thing so I wanted to purchase a new one. The first one I purchased from Amazon I thought was a fake - damaged box, different texture, not as nice of seam finishes on the rubber (?), poor paint job, etc....nothing horribly different just not the same quality as our other Sophie. So, I returned it saying it was fake/damaged and they sent me a new one - same thing!
