@sorrycharlie: and @bunnylove08: thanks for the heads up on not submerging Sophie - I totally would have done that.

I dont think you can boil or steam sterilize Sophie the rubber can't handle the heat and if you immerse her as the squeaker goes.

I would do a good wipe down with water and vinegar

I saved H's Sophie but after one move and looking at it again, I think we'll pitch it and get a new one for Em! It's gross looking and I doubt we could get it clean enough to suit me.

I'm going to save it, and just clean it. If you want it to squeak I wouldn't suggest submerging or boiling though..I killed our squeaker by running it under water, and luckily it somewhat came back.

I mean, O has put just about every single toy and book in her mouth and I'm definitely saving them all! :)

I am saving mine as my son, who is almost 3, plays with her now like a toy. He calls her Sophie and has her go on adventures and help him build blocks etc He never cared for her at all as a baby so chances are if I need one for the baby Ill have to buy a new one at this point simply as I dont think my DS will get the idea that Sophie his friend is now a chew toy for his sibling lol

I'm saving it for my next LO. DS only used it a few times. He preferred chewing on a lens cap.

I saved mine. It was barely used by my first, and turns out DS didn't like it either!

I saved ours but my first LO didn't play with it a lot. I think I just rinsed it with hit soapy water.

@owlmom: I'd save it! Do you have a sterilizer? I'd steam sterilize or boil it. Or maybe run it through the dishwasher?

I'd keep it. DD puts everything in her mouth, so a used Sophie doesn't gross me out. I'd probably just wash with hot water and soap, or maybe with some vinegar. I'm not much of a germaphobe though. I mean, an old Sophie is nothing compared to licking a pole outside a children's museum (DD did that a few months ago!)

If your LO used Sophie giraffe, did you clean it and save it for future baby/babies or did you get rid of it? If you kept it, what did you do to clean it? I'm generally not worried about germs, but a used Sophie grosses me out for some reason - am I being silly? I'd give LO's Sophie to my dogs who have coveted it for months, but I don't want them thinking all Sophies are theirs in case we get one for a future baby. I think I feel bad tossing it out because it was silly expensive for a baby chew toy :)
