@jetsa: Yeah, mine were never painful, just uncomfortable. Sometimes if you catch it early enough nursing LO on that side as soon as you can will help clear it (especially if you can massage while LO is nursing).

This happened to me when I pump weaned. I can usually press down firmly towards my nipple (like start out where the hard spot is and press down while moving your hand towards your nipple). That always clears mine. You'll know it's working if milk shoots out!

I've had this happen 3 times. I put a heating pad (I have one of those rice filled ones) on it for 10 minutes, then I massage it as hard as I can stand, then I pump while massaging it for like 30-45 min. So far that has worked for me.

If you are weaning, you don't really want to pump a bunch extra to get rid of it, but that's what is usually recomended. You can massage in a warm shower, comb it down (use an actual large comb), take ibuprofen every 6 hours (not just for pain, but to reduce swelling), rest a lot. I had them a couple times and they went away after doing those things without getting mastitis.

Massage it especially in the shower. Apply heat (wet washcloth) if you can. Drink a lot of water. If it is a clogged duct, it should go away after you get it unclogged. Nurse more on that boob to help unclog.

DS is almost one so I'm pumping weaning and I'm down to 1 session per day and now one of my boobs has a sore and hard lump. I'm off until Monday and will be breastfeeding.

What do I do, anything or will it just go away? I've never had clogged ducts or anything since Mastitis at 3 days postpartum.
