I'd wait and see. It's probably a canker sore. They usually go away on their own in about a week. I tend to get really big painful ones though. They don't get quite so big if I catch them early and rinse with mouthwash or a weak potassium permanganate (disinfectant) solution.

My son also had a giant white sore on the inside of his lip at around 18 months. It looked horrible, I could see it without even pulling back his lip. Didn't seem to bother him though, and went away in a couple of days. I still don't know what it was, but am guessing he was worrying his lip because of teething and gave himself a blister.

I'd monitor it for a few days and then decide. If it's getting better, no problem. If it's the same, or worse, or more of them, then give them a call. I randomly get canker sores all the time, esp when my diet is bad, so it wouldn't be too alarming to me on its own if he weren't cranky or had a temp.

If it's a canker sore and they don't have other symptoms, I wouldn't take them in. My daughter gets them and they typically resolve in a few days. If it's something different and/or there are other symptoms, it would be worth a call to a doc.

How old a child? I’d probably wait a few days to see if it goes away and then call. Wouldn’t take it without talking in covid times.

Would you take your child to the doctor for a sore on their inner lip? Or just let it go away?
