They didn't have houses, and there were no requirements to live together (though I did end up rooming with sorority sisters my sophomore and junior years). I wouldn't forbid my future daughter from being in a sorority but I wouldn't actively encourage it either. We did intramural competitions in one. The one that actually did any normal frat stuff (like competing with other frats at volleyball, bowling, pool, etc) was fun and completely innocent.
