@ocean81: @wrkbrk: we do this too. I won't let them eat anything that we pay by weight like grapes or bananas, but the grocery store is the ONLY place that my son will eat blackberries or raspberries, so we usually end up with an empty carton at checkout.

@SweetCaroline: @wrkbrk: Same with the paci. My LO turns 3 in February as well and she's fine without it to sleep at daycare but otherwise it's required at night and in the car (which we had weaned off of at some point but that didn't last :silly: ). We're having our second right around her 3rd birthday so I don't have high hopes that we'll be able to get her off of it then either. Her dentist told me it's not a problem until her adult teeth start coming in so it's not a battle I'm willing to fight right now!

My kid will be three in February and she's addicted to her pacifier. She can only have it in bed at night and naptime (doesn't use a binky 5 days a week for a nap at daycare...), But she goes crazy jumping up and down, excited when she sees it.

I know I need to get rid of it but I just haven't yet. Jinxing sleep sounds awful. My mom said my brother willingly threw his in the garbage at age 3, so here's hopin'...

@newlypregnantlady: @wrkbrk: we do this every time we go to Trader Joe’s. Juice from their sample station and we open a box of cereal bars. She also loudly demands stickers but won’t actually ask the cashier for them herself or say thank you (but she will say she wants more of a different type ). I hope we are not raising a brat. :silly:

ETA: she is only 2 so the refusal to talk to the cashier is more about shyness than being rude!

@wrkbrk: I do this regularly. We go to the pouches aisle and pick out a pouch to eat at the store (she’ll only eat them in the store anyway) and I have also opened a loaf of bread and given her a piece when she was hungry. Once, while pregnant, I opened a popsicle for myself...I figured no one would say anything to a very pregnant lady.

@newlypregnantlady: I can do you one better. We let DS open food we are buying at the grocery store and eat in the cart while we shop.

About half the time when we go grocery shopping I buy the toddler a big pastry or cookie from the Starbucks in the store so she’ll eat quietly while I grocery shop. The other day she ate a huge Starbucks chocolate chip cookie at 9am. But I also got an hour-long shopping trip completed with two kids and no crying, whining, or tantrums.

Also, my 4 month old is 100% addicted to pacifiers.

And the toddler sleeps like a newborn and is up every two hours, so between the two kids I’m up 5-10x per night. Once a week I let the toddler watch PBS kids for a couple hours just so I can actually spend some time relaxing and maybe drink a hot cup of coffee and put the baby down for a nap.

@erinbaderin: ha ha, me too! I popped into Barnes & Noble today to use the restroom and spent another 10 minutes perusing the Halloween theme book display. Midway through Curious George Goes to a Costume Party LO pulled out Curious George Builds a (Bird) House. He know what he likes! Lol

@snowjewelz: Yeah, we live by wet wipes during the week and scented lotion j/k.

DH started this, but LO now watches an episode of Lion Guard after afterschool. It does give me a chance to make dinner for us when I am by myself during the week.

Its not like a huge portion or anything, but it makes them happy and they don't really get treats from anyone but me (minus school birthday treats), so I'm happy to oblige. 1/4 cup of ice cream in a cone and all is right in the world for 20 minutes.
