@anagram yea I need to do this. The problem is, my husband CAN calm him down eventually, get him back to sleep.... but he will wake back up 15 mins later and repeat. Ugh. So we're ALL up.

@MrsADS: I would just have your husband do the wakeups, even if for a while your son screams. Our second LO also developed quite a mommy preference for a while, and screamed when anyone else tried to hold her/feed her/do her night wakeups. So my husband just doubled the amount of time he did all those things, and although yes, there were a couple of nights of less sleep for everyone, after those nights she got used to him and we could take care of her equally.

@hoots I've read all about the cherry supreme. We have Carafate from the doctor, which I think is supposed to be similar (maybe better?), but it's not doing a whole lot. Hugs to you too.

@anagram the nursing at night thing is tough. Weight wise he is good. His GI thinks he comfort nurses a lot at night to help soothe the burning/discomfort - apparently breastmilk is like taking Mylanta or something. But then you have the full belly again which probably doesn't help. I would say most nights he nurses 2x/night, which isn't *too* bad. And they are usually at least 4 hrs apart so I don't think it's that his belly is getting overfilled. It's tough to say though. When he wakes up and he wants to nurse, he gets HYSTERICAL when my husband picks him up from the crib. Hubs can usually calm him down and get him back to sleep, but he will wake up 15 minutes later... repeat... till I nurse him. Also when he's having a bad reflux flare like this he really will not eat solids at all (maybe a few bites of puree at lunch time is all). So I guess I worry about him getting enough calories and stuff, although at this age I suppose he's still getting everything he needs from breastmilk. So hard!!

@ohcaptain we could except for the nursing issue... he wants to nurse during some of the wake ups so I end up having to do it. I know you're dealing with this issue of not sleeping too. Blahhh :bummed:

Could you maybe do the night in shifts? I know going to bed at 6:30 feels strange, but could you go to bed when M does and have your husband handle all wake ups until midnight and then switch?

@MrsADS: Is he nursing all night? Does that contribute to the reflux at all?

I have adult GERD and although I fail at this all the time, I'm not supposed to eat or drink anything at all (not even a sip of water) for 2 hours before bed. And obviously not overnight.

My 9 month old was sleeping pretty badly all of last week because she's been cruising, so she constantly tries to stand in her crib and walk along the rail...allllll night long. She was averaging maybe 9 wakeups a night. But this week, she seems to have calmed down a bit. What helped a little is that no matter how many times she was up, we didn't feed her except for the one 2 am feeing she's had a long time and hasn't dropped on her own. So if she woke up at 9pm and 11pm, and 1 pm...we just held and comforted but didn't feed. Then we feed any time after 2, and don't feed after that.

I feel like that may have helped her when the leap was over to go back to sleeping until 2am at least. Last night she slept 8-2, then 2-5:30, then restless/whiny/fitful sleep until 6:30 when I let her get up.

Good luck! Reflux is hard.

Youve probably already tried it, but in case you haven't could you add the CVS Cherry Supreme for the flare? We are in the middle of one now and I'm going to pick some up to try.

I don't have any other suggestions, just commiseration.

@elbiekay @Avivoca yes he helps a lot. I'm BFing so don't really want to stay overnight, plus it would be so hard on my husband. I think the nights during my conference I will just have to have him do more wake ups. Uggh

@MrsADS: I would definitely stay at a hotel for the conference of you can. Even if you have to pay out of your own pocket, it could be worth it just to get some sleep. Is your husband helping with night wake ups at all? If not, he should start because your sleep deprivation is getting to a dangerous point.

My baby is 9 months old and the last 2 weeks (but especially the last few days) his sleep is a NIGHTMARE. He's up all night. Every 90 minutes. And also often up for a 2-3 hour stretch in the middle of the night. And still wakes up at 5:30am.

He has some health issues - he has always had really bad reflux. It was getting a tiny bit better but the last 2 weeks (coinciding with the sleep problems) it is flaring up terribly. He is so miserable. Arching, crying, vomiting. So that is the reason he can't sleep. We have an appointment with our GI in a week so I am hoping he'll have some answers. He's obviously up because he's in pain and miserable so letting him cry it out is not an option.

Anyway. I work full time. My work is super understanding but I am not sure how I can keep pushing through this sleep deprivation. I drive to work with the windows down and the AC blasting on me to stay awake. This week (perfect timing), I have to drive to a conference Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat, that will require about 3 hours per day in the car commuting in traffic, PLUS 9 hours at the conference.

I need some tips for surviving this! I want to quit my job but I know it's going to get better. I know other mommies have been there. Help me!!!
