My grandma-in-law uses a portable radiator heater (it has some sort of liquid in it). It's hot to the touch but might be safer overall as long as it's not on while the LO is mobile?

we have a Vornado one we leave in Livs room, and also one we got from Target, but I cant remember the brand. Livs room is the coldest in our house too, so it needs it. It made me nervous at first, but I keep it on the dresser and decently far from the crib so that it warms the room and doesnt blow right on her

We have a ceramic space heater that I got at walmart for $35. Our living room is a decent size with tall ceilings and it keeps it nice and toasty. I would be comfortable leaving it on in LOs room overnight: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lasko-Electric-Oscillating-Ceramic-1500-Watt-Tower-Heater-5307/17038558

We leave the space heater on in LO's room overnight... it does make me nervous, but I've been using the same brand of space heater in my room overnight without any problems for years, and I'm super paranoid about making sure there's nothing anywhere near the space heater.
I've tried leaving it on prior to bedtime to heat the room up, but by morning the room is still chilly... maybe not enough to be an issue, but having it on overnight works best. It's one of the ones where you set a dial for how often you want it to go on and how intense it should be, and I tend to use low settings for both.

We have this space heater: http://www.amazon.com/Duraflame-1000-Quartz-Heater-7HM1000/dp/B0085F19GQ
(we got it for under $100 though at BJ’s, with a coupon).

I like it, it’s small and has wheels so its easy to move from room to room. We use it to preheat the bathroom for LO’s bath, and plan to use it for her room once she moves into her own room/crib. It doesn’t take long at all to heat a room and is pretty quiet. I would recommend it.

We have an oil filled space heater with adjustable temperature control. It has worked really well this winter, and we keep it on throughout the night. I set the temperature to 67 degrees, and it will stay between 68 - 70. It will automatically turn off once it is 67+ degrees and only kick back on when the temperature dips down. I haven't noticed any big difference in the electric bill, and my LO stays warm throughout the night.

My son's room is the coldest in the house, by far. It is a small room, but for some reason never gets very warm (and only has a small baseboard heat piece along one short wall. It was fine until now - January in Boston is just too cold and unless I crank the heat to 75 at night his room is too cold. Last night I had the heat at 72 and my husband and I were sweating but my son's ears and hands were cold this morning. He already wears a long sleeve onesie, fleece jammies, and a fleece sleep sack to bed.

So, I'm looking at space heaters. The plan would be to use the space heater before bedtime to get his room warm and then turn it off/unplug when he goes to bed. I think I'd be too nervous to leave it on all night. Anyone have a space heater that they would recommend?

(We plan to sell our place this spring so I don't want to invest in upgrading the heating system at this point in time.)
